See this link, and yes you would need a credit card on file to show your 18yrs and over to buy.

Have you added a credit card to your eBay account, this proves you are over the age of 18 the legal age in the UK to sell a bladed item, this may help.

I suspect you cannot sell as collection only because eBay don’t physically see the item or the exchange of goods. It could be construed that you give the item to a minor. (I am not saying you would) the rules and laws have tightened significantly in the past few years.
it is actually a criminal offence for that person to collect from you and walk down the road with it should they be stopped.

My apologies as I have seen @tommystrezures answer I mis read your post @nuffinbutanumber that this was a collection item.
I think tommy is correct as it could be anyone coming to collect this bladed knife a minor, for instance.

Buyers now pay eBay, not the seller, so eBay is responsible for verifying the buyer's age.
Even if it wasn't, eBay doesn't want headlines about items sold here being used in crimes! They have always restricted the sale of weapons, or items that could be misused as weapons.

just to answer this I am 72 years old and don’t do credit cards the same as a lot of people on this site so how then would I purchase say - a letter opener or a saw
I do purchase a lot of personal tools from sellers whom may I add have to be 18 to have an eBay account as do buyers- I also sell a lot of vintage tools and gardening tools these now also fall into the age restrictions
