Auction confusion

Hello. I placed a bid for a console table. The auction ended and it said that I had been outbit and the amount was 4.58 while my bid was 5 pounds. How is it that I was outbid?

I wonder if the max bid they're showing is minus the buyer protection fee, whereas yours is including it.  eBay sometimes does stuff like that.
