I want to buy a hedge trimmer butI can not get past the age proof page as I do not have a credit card. How can I get past this page?

You cannot buy this item yourself if you do not have a credit card,  as that is the only proof that you are over the age of 18,  that eBay accept for verification.

The only way round this,  would be to ask someone who does have a credit card on their eBay account,  to buy this for you.
