Ad fee general

Hi, i recently sold an item and was charged £80 for “ad fee general”, what it is and why??? I recently received an email from eBay last October to be exact that it is now free to sell on eBay for private sellers except cars so was I charged this amount for 1 single item???

It's a fee for promoting your item, presumably you chose that option when you listed it.

 

Only basic listings are free for private sellers.

I did not choose that option though, yet i was charged for it, a whole £80 at that, that’s not fair. I had trainers listed on Vinted on where the buyer contacted me about the them, it wasn’t through eBay, and only wanted to buy on eBay because he could pay 3 times through PayPal so to see eBay taking £80 from me it’s ridiculous.

You may not have realised at the time of listing that you ticked the box, but if ebay charged you, you must have done.

 

You could try asking ebay CS if they will waive the fee just this once.

 

I am not sure what the trainers story has to do with it.
