DO I NEED TO SUPPLY AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO A SELLEE IN ORDER FOR HIM TO GIVE ME A REFUND FOR A FAULTY OBJECT
I'm not so familiar with PayPal's buyer protection policy as with eBay's money back guarantee. I'm not sure why you would use PayPal rather than eBay.
Anyway, in either case you open a case or file a dispute using eBay or PayPal's procedure. Provide the information that eBay or PayPal will require, and don't get involved in negotiations with the seller. You can do either, but don't file cases with each at the same time or they will be closed!
Unlike eBay, PayPal requires the buyer to pay for the return postage unless you first register for their (free) "Return shipping on us" service, see: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/refunded-returns
