contact warning letter

Ok. I have been buying and selling on Ebay for many years. Today, attempting to sell a toddler bed, I have been issued with a warning letter re contact details. I am very upset by this.

I have sold many items locally over the years and always given the buyer an opportunity to come take a look before purchasing. Now it seems buyers have to buy the item before coming to take a look as I cannot pass my contact info  across until they have bought it! This is just poor selling. My buyer will not buy it before she has seen it. I have lost the sale.

I would never sell outside of Ebay. I have always paid my dues. I saw the warnings not to post contact details before I did so, so technically I have not gone against the terms and conditions, yet still I got a warning letter?!

I contacted customer service last night. I was informed that the buyer has to request a refund if she buys and on collection doesn't like it. But that would be a joint decision as I would have to confirm the refund. I would of course do that, but it leaves the buyer open to the possibility that the seller could say ' they picked it up and therefore they pay' even though they haven't - or simply just refuse to refund?

I would welcome an alternative take on this because right now my sales will be going to Gumtree.

Goodness, I feel so cross and frustrated by this!

There is no alternative

The ebay policy is clear

The buyer buys the item and then comes and checks if and if it is not as described then you agree to cancel the sale

This has always been the case but ebay are taking strong steps to stop off ebay sales

If you have tried to exchange any contact details with another member before buying the item then ebay will restrict or suspend you.

They sent an email to all members on 22nd Sept Changes to the user agreement

It will be in your ebay Messages tab on your My ebay for you to read

Judging by the number of members who are being restricted this seems to be happening a lot

Do your buyers go home and buy the item and then come back once they have to collect?.

This has nothing to do with how many years you have been selling it is ebay policy and what we all sign  up to
