The buyer did not recognise the transaction and opened dispute,
I've been charged £14.00 fees on top of having to refund buyer and they've kept the item.
Ebay does not allow sellers to put there case forward unlike paypal so because it was a low cost item we don't buy tracking. Ebay was only interested in a tracking number and settled in buyers favour.
Buyer lying and claiming they didn't open case.
I'm so unhappy with losing nearly £20 for no reason.
**** Edit - Spoken with Ebay who have partially sorted this out and I'm 80% happier with the outcome. Thank you to all who commented.
Are you saying that on managed payments, if the buyer does an unauthorised payment chargeback, ebay will find against you unless you have tracking?
I find this very worrying that they only refunded the £14.
£20 is a big loss.
Sorry to be a bore and come back again about postage
The 16 digit code and uploading
I always add it straight away as soon as I post the item. Ebay did advise that at one time
If a dispute is opened then it is there straight away and you can see if it was Delivered or not
You are right about problems uploading the number and I always check it on Royal Mail site tracking first.
It is a bit time consuming but well worth it
It can get mixed up due to the letters and numbers say like a zero and an ohh if you see what I mean
You just change the ohhs and zero's to get it right
I find a B sometimes looks like a 0 if the receipt printing is not good.
If you put it on RM tracking first and it comes up Not recognised that is often what the problem is.
If it comes up we can only tell you when the item has been delivered or similar you know it is correct.
I then cut and paste it onto the Add tracking on ebay.so I know its right
Its a phaff on but worth the effort
to defeat this unauthorised usage claim all you have to do is prove that you posted the item to the address PayPal gave you on their payment notification.
To win any dispute you have to send tracked and if you dont send tracked then you always have to allow for problems like this
If you send 2nd class and it is a packet rather than a letter size then it has the 16 digit code on the reciept from the Post office
that acts as tracked. You always put that onto the item in your Sold section
No tracking you have to refund that is ebay policy
As you say on paypal they look more carefully but you still have to have tracking
Even paypal will refund the buyer if there is no tracking
