Within the last hour I made an offer of £170 (from £179) for a piece of furniture and it was immediately accepted. Before I even realised it had been accepted the order was cancelled and the system told me it was because I didn't pay for the item in the set time. All this in less than a minute! Thing is, I know this can affect my eBay reputation. Anyone else had this happen? Should I report it?
PS I messaged the seller about this but no reply as yet.
If the seller cancelled the sale within a minute of it ending, it can't have been because you didn't pay. I don't see how this can be a system-generated reason, maybe it's just an excuse that the seller entered.
I would expect eBay to treat this as a seller-initiated cancellation, which isn't allowed until after the four days allowed for the buyer to pay. The seller is liable to be charged full fees for the sale, and to receive an account defect for cancelling.
