Returned item via sellers returns label

I asked to return an item, the seller approved the request and l proceeded by printing off the returns label that the seller provided me with.
I went to update my tracking details within the returns process and it wouldnt accept my tracking number, it said l had to put another number in as this one had already been used in the system.
I went onto Royal Mail tracking and saw that my item had been delivered back to the seller on the 5th May.
I contacted the seller yesterday to ask if he could now issue my refund but lve had nothing from him. No reply and no refund.

This is one of eBay's "less than helpful messages" I'm afraid.  The number is in the system from when it was given to Royal Mail; you need do nothing.

I would guess that the refund is being processed. Many sellers are not set up to deal with messages.  The refund goes back to the source so if you used a card through Paypal it goes back to the card and takes a bit longer.

Sellers have 6 days after receipt to issue the refund.
