Postage & charges

Hello
Please can you advise if a seller is responsible for indicating that a charge could/will be added when a product is imported. I am in dispute with a seller who did not advertise that extra would need to be paid on the eBay page. It is on the web page of the company but as I knew what I wanted I just looked on the eBay page where it does not state extra charges will apply only what the postage was?

Import fees are paid by the buyer, they are nothing to do with either eBay or the seller, you shouldn't be disputing them with the poor seller.

You're importing an item from a non EU country and are supposed to be aware of any import regs, which are set by our very own HMRC.

All items with a declared value of over £15 from a non EU country are subject to VAT and an admin fee (£8 if via Royal Mail, much more for couriers such as Fedex).

VAT will be charged on an item up to £135 in value, then Customs Duty kicks in.

There is a message on each international eBay listing warning you of possible charges, it's just below the postage price on each listing. Here's an example:
