Leaving Feedback

Why is it that some buyers asnd sellers cannot be bothered to leave feedback? I have been with ebay since 2004 and whenever I purchase an item I always have the courtesy to leave the seller feedback, it helps them know that I have received the item, am happy with my purchase and adds to their positive score. When I am buying I always check out the sellers feedback. Also when I am selling I leave the buyer immediate feedback as soon as they pay me, I send an email thanking them for their purchase and ask if they will kindly post feedback when they receive the goods so I can see that they are happy with it. They don't always bother. If every buyer or seller I have had commerse with had left me feedback then my score would be at least a third more than it is. Where have the manners gone to? It takes so little time to do, its like saying thank you to a shop assistant when they hand you the goods. But then a lot of buyers are rude to shop assistants as well!!

Don't you think it is unwise leaving fb for a buyer just because they have paid, that is what they are supposed to do. You can't change it when they change into the buyer from hell and in any case having got fb what incentive do they have leaving for you.

It is polite as you say for a buyer to leave fb showing receipt and they are happy, but it is VOLUNTARY.

I get about 75% from buyers and always then leave for them. It is however rather meaningless now as EVERY buyer has 100% record however terrible they are.

Call me old fashioned but I was brought up with manners! But then I am one of those weird people who greet a shop assistant with a smile and say thank you after the transaction. No I do not find it unwise to leave feedback on receipt of the money. If a buyer has paid me promptly its only polite to acknowledge the fact. I have had to wait days for some to pay and then I am not quite so polite! Yes it is voluntary as you say and yes it is a shame that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback to rubbish buyers, and we have all had some. But then ebay is not what it used to be either.

Feedback is voluntary and a personal thing, I enjoy leaving feedback for sellers.

I have had a few over the years. One lady bought a bracelet from me and it was clearly described as ' some of the stones have fallen out and need to be replaced. Loose stones are included and you can get a jeweler to replace them.' She did not bother to read the item description, she received the item and raised merry hell demanding her money back, which I did, not her postage. Sent her an email suggesting that although I was refunding her money, I was not obliged to as she should have read the description details. She then posted negative feedback, claiming I was rude. Ebay refused to remove it! As a seller I was not allowed to leave matching feedback! Bit unfair.
Another one bought a Tanzanite gemstone from me, together with a certificate of authenticity from Gems TV. They kept it a week, then lodged a complaint with EBay that it was a fake. Claimed they had it tested at a jewelers, when the only certain way is to have it tested at a gem laboratory (which costs money). Returned their money of course but it is genuine and they were very rude about it.
One more, I sold a brand new, sealed box set of Most Haunted to a lady for £40. It was fine and sealed when it left me, but she mailed me to say that when she got it one of the DVDs was loose and 'of course it will be damaged'. Asked her to open the packaging and check it and if it really was damaged then to send it back and I would of course refund. She denied to do this and just demanded her money back. Gave her a refund and noticed that a few days later she had purchased the same set (albeit pre-owned) for £20!
I have only once ever left bad feedback, this for a seller. He had advertised a disabled walker (which I wanted for my mother) with a starting price of 99p and £15.95 delivery costs. I was the only bidder and therefore got it for 99p. However as I lived in the same town I had asked if I could collect the item to save on delivery costs. He refused insisting that I pay the delivery (I had asked before bidding if I could do this and he agreed). He refused to send me an amended invoice and then lodged a non payment complaint with e-bay, so I tried to make the payment and was told that the item was no longer for sale as he had sold it to someone else. Where exactly did I go wrong here? Oh yes he did not want to sell it for 99p! (OK this one was a seller from Hell).
