How did I disable these notifications?
95% of notifications I receive from eBay is pointless ebay spam or requests that I give 5 star ratings
If you want to limit the messages eBay send you then go to My Account Summary Page>Account Tab>My eBay views>My Account>Communication preferences.

You may not be able to stop all notifications though.
