Who has suggested that you should display the buyer's phone number on the address label?
It may make sense to provide the courier with a phone number, but I woulod draw the line at including it in the address label. This can't be necessary - I've had plenty of pre-delivery phone calls from couriers, but the number has never been shown on the parcel.
Some buyers are unhappy about their phone number being provided at all. Theoretically I suppose sellers should ask the buyer first, but this simply isn't practicable for every parcel.
EBay ought to clarify this. The sensible answer would be for buyers to record their preferences, to be entered in the transaction record.
without the buyers permission it would be breaking the law and if the number was ex-directory then there could be serious consequences.
Who is showing them?
Sometimes couriers request a phone or email contact for the buyer so they can contact when they are near.
AS far as I know that is optional
