Generator

A buyer bought a Generator and after starting it he claimed it ran for 20mins then stopped. He claimed he checked generator on arrival and said it was filled with oil so he did not care to add oil to it before use. We reminded him he bought a brand new sealed generator and there's no way there's oil in it. Courier companies even don't allow fluid in parcel. The guy has started the generator without oil and damaged it. Ebay has asked him to return it but am just scared that ebay will refund him as usual and I have lost a generator under same circumstances two months ago. I have letters from my supplier that clearly says no oil is in Generator as they all new and sealed. How can someone buy a Generator and expect to find oil in it. Just so worried that about to suffer another loss. Even went as far as to tell the guy that if he sends it back we will refund half his money and take it to a repairs shop due to fear of what ebay might do. But this people as usual believe ebay will refund them fully so he said no.

You have my sympathies, but unfortunately all nad cases are completely automated so ebay will issue the refund unless you do it voluntarily.

All I can suggest is you wait till you  get the generator back, and if it is damaged as you suspect, speak to ebay customer service before refunding and explain clearly and calmly what has happened. If you have messages in your inbox proving the mistake is the buyer's, so much the better, ebay can read them. so keep all messages.

Explain that the item has been damaged by the buyer and is no longer in the same condition it was received, so, under ebay's own rules, does not merit a full refund.

See what they say.
