Buyer requesting a return because it was late although posted on time

Hi my buyer is requesting a return and full refund because although I posted the item on time and have proof of postage and of delivery it was too late fir her event (dress) will I have to agree the return? It doesn't seem fair as I kept up my side of the transaction and it is total nail who are at fault.  Can't claim from Royal Mail as it arrived on day 9

No, you don't have to accept a return on that basis.   Suggest she sell it herself.

Thanks for responding. She’s opened a dispute saying it’s faulty as didn’t arrive on time so now there is no option to decline so I assume in a few days she will escalate. Will eBay just return her money. My money has been held. No real person to speak to at eBay and explain

That's sneaky. eBay will almost certainly find in her favour. Not much you can do apart from put her ID on your blocked bidder list.
