Hi my buyer is requesting a return and full refund because although I posted the item on time and have proof of postage and of delivery it was too late fir her event (dress) will I have to agree the return? It doesn't seem fair as I kept up my side of the transaction and it is total nail who are at fault. Can't claim from Royal Mail as it arrived on day 9
EBay's money back guarantee now allows buyers to treat an item as "not as described" if it arrives even a day after the latest estimated delivery date. If your buyer uses eBay's money back guarantee, you will have to refund them in full and send them a prepaid return label if you want the item back.
It doesn't matter whose fault it was. It's only eBay that makes sellers 100% responsible for a refund when an item is even a day late. Royal Mail doesn't even treat post as lost for 11 days (14 for 2nd class).
I suspect this is one way in which eBay is "encouraging" sellers to post items immediately the buyer has paid, and not wait for the several days it can now take for eBay to pass their payment on.
Unless things have changed - if it arrived later than the last estimated delivery date they can open a not as described case.
No, you don't have to accept a return on that basis. Suggest she sell it herself.
That should read Royal Mail not total
