Northern lights in Alaska a few days ago:

And more where that came from:

I'd like to go to one of the dark-sky sites in this country and see the Milky Way again.
A (belated) Happy New Year to everyone...

This sounds so lame, but I'd go 60 miles up the road to Swansea, and cycle all along the seafront (5 miles). Then drink champagne from the bottle on the Guildhall lawn at midnight.

have seen the northern lights a few times up here in Aberdeenshire. With the weather as it was last night (and more to come tonight) anywhere wind free and warm would be paradise at the moment. Always wanted to see Hong Kong but not now it has been handed back to China.

It's still Hong Kong Myra whoever governs it.

I'd love to be able to get to South Wales to see my cousing Sue who's having a rough time at the moment so I'd like to give her a big hug. We're more like sisters than cousins. The last time we met was when she managed to come up here for the funeral of one of our aunties. It would be nice to see her under happier circumstances.

I might do that CB as I'd love to see her again. It's not the same keeping in touch by email or on the phone.

Gina, I'll see if I can't hire a bike this summer - they do seafront bike hire. Time to start on that bucket list! I have drunk champagne on the Guildhall lawn at midnight but would love to do it again.
Stan, I have a soft spot for the front.... an old romance was involved!
Books, if you do come down this way, maybe we could have coffee if you have a free half hour. I hope things look up for you soon.

Chris never put off what you would like to do. It could be too late tomorrow.

I don't know how YOU feel exactly, but there's something about Wales that runs very deep. Both My Grandfathers were Miners in the Pits of South Wales ( in the days of pick axes, digging it out by Hand ) and both My Parents were born and grew up in the Rhondda Valley. They dragged themselves out of relative poverty, to become high achievers in life ( both long gone now I'm afraid ). Every time I go back to Wales, I feel I'm where I belong.......Home. So if they find a little spot somewhere there ( with a view ) to lay My old Bones; when the time comes.......that'll do me. I guess you can take the Boy out of Wales, but you can't take Wales out of the Boy.
The greatest piece of music........EVER.

Aye Evo, it's magic right enough. Very stirring and makes me cry - and I'm Scottish. Few years ago now we went to the Concert Hall in Glasgow to see those' Voices of the Valley', it was a great night and that was their finale.
My people were miners in the Lararkshire coal pits. Our adopted national anthem is the pits. Bleurgh.

Speaking as someone who once sang in an Eisteddfod choir, I have to disagree. The finest piece of music is Men of Harlech. Makes me get a tear in the eye, and I'm English

I'll must see about going to see my cousin this year. She'd fit in well on here. If we do make, Mouse, I'd love to meet you. I'll let you know what happens.

I'd love to do so many things I'm not sure which I'd like to do most though.
I'd love to travel the coast of Britain in a camper van/motorhome thingy, taking time to swim in the sea wherever I
fancy and just do whatever I feel like as I go. I'd also like to drive Route 66 in America, go to Venice to see all
the glass and swim in an amazing outdoor pool there. I'd also love to go to Iceland, Norway and Switserland
again, and go to Germany again too. Oh, and Bude of course, my favourite place ever.

I love the sea too fishy............ most of my dreams are about swimming in a warm ocean............ but here in ireland the atlantic sea is beyond freezing......... you have to wait till you are numb.....and dont get out until you are knackered..........cause there is no way you can go back in with the wind freezing you more
AMERICA ............. for me........ if I had the choice....... I would like to see everything...museums, food..culture...and the grand canyon...niagra falls..........so much... so JUST AMERICA
this is a place called Keem Bay in Achill Island ...west ireland........ you had to drive up a mountain.....scary as hell then descend
into this beautiful little cove............ I have pictures somewhere of all of us swimming
that brought back some memories.

That's a lovely photo Kate. It looks absolutely beautiful. I must admit though I've never been a lover of swimming in the sea. I'm spoiled I know by swimming in a nice heated pool every day. Well, it's heated some of the time.
