I have a LOT of family on Shetland Fiona...
my brother lives in Bixter, Clousta...so I have seen that sign many times.
My family are all over Shetland...the main branch are Willmore, but I have Adamson & Laurenson branches born & bred.
You live way remote, but it's beautiful where you are

Hi Fiona, really nice of you to post that great link. Weirdly, myself and the OH were Googling Up Helly Aa only this weekend! We got talking about old customs and we went from researching Wassailing to Up Helly Aa, which unfortunately we wont have time to get to this year (its next week..?) but would definitely love to visit Shetland at some time soon.
Am I right in thinking that a ferry goes from Scrabster in Caithness? Or the ferry from Aberdeen is also mentioned. Im not a very good flyer lol and after seeing that clip of the plane I will definitely come by boat!!!!
All looks fabulous. Stunning scenery and wildlife and of course a fudge shop is a real bonus

alison the plane from aberdeen takes 1 hour and is safe the only ferry is from aberdeen direct is 12 hours and 3days a week via orkney 14 hours reclinning chairs, sleeping pods and cabins with beds on ferries

Hi Fiona, it looks amazing where you live, I'd love to come sometime. I love islands
and I love the sea. My sister in law and family visited Shetland last summer for just
over a week and they loved it.

What? No mention of your yearly friendly invasion? We were hoping to come back to the Dim next year, before we aquired a 2 year old to look after! Send my love to Vidlin!
