I like Homes under the hammer. I love to see how they can turn dingy, semi derelict properties into beautiful homes. But, escape to the country and stuff like that never seems realistic. They usually have at least half a millio to spend, so not something I can really relate to.

I agree what's been said. I like watching these programmes just to the properties. A lot of them say 'Oh isn't it nice and bright'. What the majority of them don't seem to mention is that there are lights on in nearly every room.

hahahaa you're right Chris! I think they should do follow up programmes and see who did move and to where, probably nothing like the houses they were thinking of buying.
I heard of one couple who were looking on one county and didn't buy, but left the programme and went down to Cornwall instead and bought there!!!!!
I see the "in" thing at the moment is huge kitchen/dining/living area with the whole back wall made of glass doors that fold out "to bring the garden in"....good grief where will it all end????

I think that it has been said, a lot of these people only go on these programmes to get on TV.

I get annoyed with 'Under the Hammer' when there is a nice little, possibly terraced house, that needs a bit of tlc and you can see in the auction room some young couples who would give their eye teeth for it, but are totally out bid by buisness men who just want to make a fast buck on it by doing it up and selling it at a fantastic price, or adding it to their huge portfolio of properties they rent out. It always seems so unfair!!

I like Homes under the Hammer as it's quite inspiring to see what can be done to a derelict property, but I prefer when the buyer wants to live in it rather than make money from it. Having said that, I'd love to earn my money that way!
I like Escape to the Country - we'd love to - but get annoyed with prospective buyers who bleat about there being a road outside! I wish the presenters wouldn't constantly show the people houses beyond their budget, or keep on about knocking walls down. Leave it alone and buy one you like as it is!
