What's the weather like where you are?

Here on the East Coast (Brid) it's very windy but has stopped raining for now. Seen the disruption down South on the news, and 10,000 homes without power; anyone got snow? If so, please send it this way.

Good to hear that it didn't get worse tho.

Keep the lake - soon it will be ice and you can practice yer skating on it!

Patch - there was a vid on the beeb website last night where a reporter was showing some dreadful waves crashing into the beach at Portland somewhere and saying that amazingly the warnings had been 'stood down' and he couldn't believe it as it was still really diabolical.

We had torrential rain this morning but it's died down to a steady drizzle now - apparently going to blow up another storm tomorrow thought.

It's now really dark and gloomy too.

I did hear we're in for snow and ice, but not where it would occur and I'd assume that once the storms stop pushing in from the SW, that will allow any seasonal cold weather to drop down from the NE.

But I think most of us are still going to have rain and gales for a while yet.

What's the weather like where you are?

I am sure the waves were amazing but this is as bad as we had it in lower Portland.

Afternoon all.  Glad that you aren't too bad now Merc and that the house wasn't too flooded.  We've had no rain here today and the wind has dropped.  It's mighty cold though.  I hope that we don't get snow 'cos I hate the stuff.

merc, is there someway and somewhere you could maybe lodge a piece of guttering in the ground to act as a diverter to divert water away from your door ? A bit like a snow plough blade throwing snow to the side of the road.

It's lovely again here this morning.  No wind, there was a little frost earlier, and the sun is still coming up over the trees in a completely clear blue sky.

Did anyone see the news last night?  It showed the snow and ice in America (I'm afraid I didn't catch where it was exactly) but it was minus 40 and expected to go down to minus 50.  Even the sea, as it blew in over the promenade was freezing, leaving piles of ice everywhere.

Don't we usually get the tail-end of their weather a week or two later?

corgi...we have many ditches, underground pipes & soakaways...but this was just too extreme for them to cope...but may have to think of something, if this is likely to happen again Woman Happy

You will never guess what it is doing in sunny Devon today,  yup you guessed it, pouring with rain,  the rivers are still pretty high and getting higher.

I have an aunt and uncle who live in the States and I had an email this morning, to say everything is fine, they have had a little snow but have got freezing rain now and are worried about ice tomorrow, they have avoided most of the severe weather that they have had further west.  They are not far from the east coast but a couple of hours from New York, temperatures where they are are about minus 10. So not as cold as some.

Frankly they can keep those temperatures, we had that a few years ago and it wasn't nice walking to work in it.

This morning, we had clear skies and it was cold.  This afternoon, we've had rain and it's blowing a right gale at the moment.  It's not so jolly warm either.  I've not looked at the weather forecast for  us yet but I'll take bets that it's going to be bad again.  Must admit that where I live, we've been luck as we've not had it anywhere near as bad as other parts of the country.

What's the weather like where you are?

Had torrential rain in the night, then clear skies this morning.

Just got ready to try and get to the PO to send some items and the heavens have opened up yet again - with some hail thrown in for good measure.

It was not supposed to rain here until later this afternoon and now the roads will be just huge puddles which some drivers seem to find really clever to drive through at top speed to drench any pedestrians.

Some are really careful and even stop to wait for until the person has got passed the flooding, but others deserve to lose their licences for the way they drive.

Anway - apart from everything being uber wet and then wet over the wet, we're still very lucky compared to what some are suffering, and it appears there is more on the way.

I cannot believe the stupidity of some people as more photos of those determined to risk their lives are put up on the net.

One surfer in the water, right next to a sea wall, with violent waves.

People standing in Porthcawl harbour with the actual waves pounding the sea wall taller than they were - never mind the heavy spray.

I shall keep sending prayers for all those who are affected through no choice or action of their own that they receive the help and support they need during and after all this dies down.

What's the weather like where you are?

It's not too bad here at the moment but we did have strongish winds and heavy rain earlier.

I think that people who go out to look at the storms need their heads examining.  They not only put their own lives at risk but they risk the lives of rescuers should they be needed.  Common sense with quite a few people is non-existant.

Guess what, pouring down here since 10.30am, and blowing a hoolie.  Rubbish weather, as my OH said this morning I am so over this weather.  We have a pebble ridge in a seaside town near us and the ridge is now flat the pebbles have been either washed away or washed onto the fields behind.

I couldn't agree more.  Why should rescuers put their lives at risk to save or look for idiots like that?  It beggars belief.

Just watching the local news tonight a policeman saved the life of someone who was walking along the beach!!!! and he got swept in, the policeman went in after him and four other policemen held on to him with ropes, that could have been 6 people dead for one stupid pr*t.
