Every year, for Christmas, I buy my daughter (early 20s) a new digital camera.
Because at some point earlier that year, she has phoned me to say that the last one 'just stopped working' -
she didn't drop it, wasn't drunk, etc etc.
Reasonable makes, Olympus, Samsung etc.
Yet my comparable digital cameras generally don't stop like that.
With the next one, she'll have to pay a chunk herself, maybe that'll make it more reliable.

Yes, nothing like being the self-paying buyer to focus one on VFM.
Like the MOD buying light bulbs for £22, or the Pentagon's $900 loo-seats

And it's like the pen pushers at the MOD who rack up phone bills coming in at well into the thousands - by ringing the speaking clock!!!!!
