It's calm here at the moment but that's not say things won't change. We've had rain overnight but nothing major.
Hope that everyone's safe and sound.

Had incredibly strong gusts of winds in West London, not continuous but when they come....
Next door but one has had a huge tree come down and taken another with it
We've all only got small back gardens so this is a massive loss and completely altered the skyline
All the birds loved the seeds from that tree too (don't know what it 'was', very fine feathery leaves with gorgeous yellow flowers in spring)
Still to take the dog out
Stay safe everyone!

Blowing great gusts here in Essex, even the birds are getting blown away!
The trains aren't running on the C2C line which runs along the back of the
houses across the road, it's funny, we only ever notice them when they're
not running. We are minus our fence at the back, well we've got it but it's
flat on the ground. Shed roof felt has blown off. The Dartford Crossing
bridge is closed so that'll be a traffic jam with one tunnel in each direction.
I'm taking car to garage in a minute as hubby forgot earlier when he went up
there, and feeding friend's cat.

Very well sheltered here anyway but certainly not a lot of problems. couple of main roads flooded but they've been doing that since the last major roadworks and a few trees down(not unexpected in this weather). Phones not rung so none of our customers seem to have problems either. So non event for us.
Gust early this morning tip over one of daughters large container type metal bins!.
Good luck to you all if you are living in exposed or wind tunnel areas.

Anti-climax is right, Grumpy - think they are still so scared of not forecasting extreme weather they tend to over egg the situation. Working from home has it disadvantages - up and on it at breakfast time round here!!. Mind you t'internet will be going down soon after all that rain I'll bet and the library is shut today!.

I don't think it was exagerated. Not here anyway. The Weymouth relief road is shut due to a landslide & trees down. It was scary last night. The wind was so noisy it was like a continuous roar. No damage personally thank goodnes but it made the tiles on the roof rattle! Still very gusty winds. I cant see out of the windows as they are covered in salt spray!
