Unhappy with GP treatment

What would you do in this situation?

I have Fibromyalgia and severe lower back pain and have struggled for years to find adequate pain relief. I was put on Tramadol a few months ago ( I basically had to fight my corner for them) although it only takes the edge off the pain its better than nothing. I went to pick up the prescription yesterday only to find the GP hadn't prescribed them the excuse being they don't like people being on them long term so what I am left with is bog standard paracetamol and people who have Fibromyalgia know how very painful this condition is. Throughout the 8 yrs I have had this condition my GP has not been very helpful at all and makes me feel like a hypochondriac everytime I visit. Changing the GP is a hard option as the nearest surgery  is then miles away. I have an appointment next week and I know I need to be more assertive regarding insisting on adequate pain relief but being in constant pain has worn me down so much I am not sure how to deal with him.

Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Re: Unhappy with GP treatment

I’ve had back issues since 2006 from work , in bed at the moment due to severe pain. Also was attacked at home 2 months ago by my sisters so called friend. I was in the garage placing boxes for sister to use for her “business “.
her friend took offence to me placing them on the floor. So I then walked past her and she blocked me.  And she walked to door but then spun round and launched herself at me knocking me backwards back of skull hit the floor as did hip.
told my sister at time I need to go to the hospital to be checked out but was then threatened by both of them.
fast forward to last night base of where skull meets neck, cannot place neck on pillow, very painful.

im also waiting (what a joke nhs is) for a emergency appointment which was made by a maxfax  consultant I was seeing for past 16 months for trig. Neuralgia in face and another doctor placed me on it. Apparently my appointment is  I kid you not 26.01.26.

I also have severe migraines (17 different varieties) the start of this year which the maxfax clinic actually diagnosed as she recognised the symptoms I was explaining is a very rare form of migraine which if not given the right tablets can cause a stroke.
According to the dimwit local practice doctor I cannot get these specific pills until I’m officially diagnosed with the hemiplegic migraine. So they’ve given me for the 5th time propanalol which doesn’t work with any of my migraines.
wish they had referred me to the neurologist department at the RVI in Newcastle instead of putting me on a waiting list for a so called emergency appointment at the University of James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
