I recently came across an alarming warning about a flea product that is leathal to cats and dogs that is being sold on ebay without any of the side effects or warnings.
Thus far I've read dozens of accounts of cats dying from an application of the anti-flea medication called "bob martin"
and if it is sold here, there should be at the very least a warning.
I'd like to see what can be done about it.

Bob Martins is sold in every supermarket pet section, pet shops & on line. Not just Ebay. If it's harmful as you say it's the manufacturer that needs targeting not just the sellers.

Crikey, that's awful that it's not been withdrawn. I've used shop-bought
Bob Martin flea treatment for my cats, albeit not in the same packaging
as that shown here. Fortunately both my cats were fine. I'm very sad at
what could have happened though, and what has happened to others.
When I last took my cat to the vet, they didn't say it was dangerous, but
did say that the shop-bought treatments were not as effective and
I got flea treatment from vet. That's made a difference, whereas the
shop-bought stuff didn't seem to.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I haven't used shop bought flea treatment for years as one of my cats had an alergic reaction and started frothing at the mouth and shaking, we dunked him in a waterbut to wash it off, (on the advise of the vet) then took him to the vets, he was given a steroid injection and he was fine. We only buy flea treatments from the vets now, more expensive but the treatment lasts longer and it is safer and it works.

I only use the spot on treatments from our vets as I know some of the overcounter stuff can be harmful to our pets. And what ever you do if you come across a hedgehog with fleas, don't use one of these spot on treatments as it could potentially kill them. We have a special treatment that we use for them...... Johnson's small animal flea spray (pump version and not the aresol one) and make sure not to get anywhere near their faces.

Saasher we run into that problem with looking after hedgehogs all the time. No meds are liscensed for use on them. 😞 Luckily we have a vet at Vale wildlife who has done testing and has published a drug sheet that most of our vets approve of and they will then prescribe meds for our hogs. It is a real nightmare sometimes. Hedgehogs are weird too in that (wild ones not the APH) have a very high metabolism and they actually need stronger dossages than most animals their size. I actually use a horse wormer when I worm them, via prescription from the vets that is.
