Four years ago I stopped having my periods....within about six months I started getting hot flushes - sometimes 10 or more a day....not had a hot flush for about six months now. Does this mean I have gone through the menopause. I could go down to see the Dr but never keen to go when I am not really ill. Just a general question really. Thanks 🙂

I think it does run in families. My poor mum bless her (and hope shes looking down on me from up in heaven) had bad mental health issues with two breakdowns in her life , bad hysterectomy that went wrong and very bad menopause which i think just made her nerves worse!!. Im certainly following suite, but thankfully i have never had any operations at all and its one thing that terrifies me!!..

I'm 52 in November, last couple of years have hot flushes and night sweats on and off, periods regular as clockwork still, the last two a bit heavier, flooding with one of them. Mood swings too, but far the worst thing for me is the extra facial hair, dark, stiff hairs growing on my chin and neck and loads of fair hair down the sides of my face, neck and chin. I can cope with it being fair but when winter comes and my tan fades I'm dreading it showing dark. My arm hair is fair at the moment but it is dark in winter, that's what I'm worried about.

Reading some of the experiences others have had, I think I should just shut up about my hot flushes, as I seem to be getting away with it lightly.

I don't think your getting away with it lightly ed, hot flushes are sooo uncomfortable, what us women have to go through eh.

Thanks ladies, they are unpleasant, and it is having to change the sheets every day that gets me down.

I have read that aching joints is a symptom of the menopause. I took flaxseed oil tablets to help, either that or cod liver oil is recommended - yuck! Reminds me of my childhood, tmi I know, but it was the after burp

Yes Captain i get very strange aches in my arms and legs and it is a symptom of Menopause but then i suppose its a symptom of getting older aswell!!. . I get more confused aswell not remembering peoples names. I can go to work and see a man in there i worked with for 5 years and call him John and his names James ha ha ha ha. And i went to take my dirty cups and plates in to the hall that leads away from the kitchen the other day and into the bedroom ha ha ha. LOl. very Fuddled and muddled i get . Thing is i get nervous and anxious then it gets worse. CONFUSSED TOTALLY LOL.!!!!!!!!!!!.

I am 53, I get the hot flushes and night sweats but no mood swings, or achy joints other than my back but I have had that for 30 years so I don't count that, I do walk upstairs to get something and then forget what I went up for but that is nothing new I have always been like that, My periods stopped 3 months ago for the 3rd time, fingers crossed that is it but I have a funny feeling it won't be sadly as they are really bad when I get them. I don't have any problems with my skin or hair. So all in all not too bad really,
Incidently last night was a night sweat, free night, yahoo, hope its like that again tonight.
