Did you watch this last night on Channel 4? It is about Female Genital Mutilation & everyone should watch it & sign the petition to stop this barbaric practice. It is child abuse & illegal in the UK but it is still going on & not one prosecution has been brought. Some of these little girls are six & seven years old when it is done! It was quite harrowing. I hope they show it again at an earlier time & that more people sign the petition.

you are right Maggie, it's disgraceful. I cannot believe that someone could do that to a child. I haven't watched it but I knew about it.

I think you need to watch it to know what really goes on. I knew about the practice but I will never forget that programme.

I didn't see the programme but I think that it is a disgusting procedure.  I signed the petition a few days ago when I saw it on the epetitions website.  It shouldn't need an epetition to get something done over this terrible thing.

Saw a programme about this, must be over 30 years ago. Hadn't realised it was still happening.  Apparently it is a sensitive issue and is being **bleep** footed around because of cultural differences.  If they live here they don't do it would be my take and if, culturally, they want to carry on this evil tradition then they should be deported or exiled!.  Such mutilation has no part in a country in which I live.  Just my opinion.

I watched a programe about this a few months back,  they also did a feature on Casualty, I signed a petition a while ago, I don't know if it is the same petition, I think it probably is because it wouldn't let me do it again.

Nearly 42,000 signed it now and nearly 2000 in the last hour.  I do hope that something can be done over this.

I think they said last night that 40,000 would mean it could be raised in the Commons. The Home Secreary's office was shameful in last nights programme. perhaps they will listen now.
