I know its an odd question but i have a cough and sinusy head i cannot get rid of and have been using Olbas Oil to inhale as it sems to clear and do the trick. But i was wondering can i put the neat Olbas in a bath?. In fact can you put any Essential Oils in a Bath or are you not supposed to get them near your skin?. I know some can be especially for use in an Oil Burner (which i love). I think some you have to be careful of too. Im not very essential or oil minded. Maybe some have some suggestions?.

I know you can put a drop in a bowl of hot water & inhale it. Put a towel over your head & the bowl. I don't think I would want my whole body smelling of it though!

I only use Olbas oil either in a bowl of hot water or on a hankie or on the pillowcase at night time. It is effective but I would never think of putting in a bath.

Hi Rose
It would be fine to put a few drops of Olbas in the bath. Any essential oils can be used in the bath but adjust drip by drip. Probably between 6-8 drips would be about right.
When you add oils to the bath ensure you add them after you turn off the taps so as not to lose the benefit in the churning water.
Do you have rosemary growing in your garden? If so cut a generous handful of sprigs and put them in the bath. The scent is divine and very head clearing even if you dont have a cold.... !

No not really lol. Just cut bigish stems off the plant as long as its a decent size, some leaves come off in the bath naturally but kind of adds to the fun, smells very steamy, fresh and Scandinavian

I'd quite like a steamy Scandanavian in the bath

I have used Olbus oil in an oil burner before when I have a cold, works for me. Everyone always knows when I have a cold because I stick a couple of drops on the inside of my works jacket, and I have hankies with it on, brilliant stuff. Rosemary I am sure it works but I hate the smell.
Did someone say they had a scandinavian in the bath, mmmmmm loverly.

Oooh thanks everyone. yes i know you have to be careful of eyes and it is strong. I have been doing the sink bit with hot water and a towel over my head and breathing it in. Very nice but the effect does not last long. I think it helps, i have been so bunged up though, sinusy you know.
Chips,,,, PICKLE JUICE ha ha ha ha do i need pickling then????.
Alison i have wondering what to do with my overgrown Rosemary outside,,, although its been on my balcony. The smell is divine i might try that.. Ohhhh i do like all that Scandinavian Hot tubbing and whipping with birch branches. Thats what they do is it not out in the snow. That would be marvellous and clearing for the old sinuses!!!!. .
Thank you and i will be careful with the oils yes.
