there is only one thing i want to make

when i was a wee girl, my gran made me a blanket of squares, i loved it, but my mum wouldnt let me use it, as it didnt "go" with my room:-(

i want another one

so, where do i start?

i tip my granny gave me was  'black wool's hard to knit'

'buggers your eyes' (she said tha bit quietly)  lol

you can get knitting needles in charity shops

For Merlin: Lesson one in knitting: First retrieve your knotting sticks from the garden where they've been propping up your plants all summer

Lesson two.... I'll leave to the others as I can't knit either :^O

Finished my quilt today though, and already had a cold enduced sleep under it on the sofa (I know it's a cot quilt but it's for a cot bed & I'm only little)

of course, knotting sticks is actually knitting sticks, which shows how much I know about the whole process (easier to admit to that than dodgy typing)

I think 'knotting' sticks was very apt when applied to someone who can't knit.:^O

Only joking merlin, they will be fine .................  but i thought you said you wanted 4mm .. those are 6 mm :^O 


Learning that one is a simple pattern so quite easy.

Wooden (bamboo) needles are nice to use & are light in the hands. 4mm is size 8 in old money.

so wondered if they would
