THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning / Afternoon / Evening

Not quite sure which it is as I worked a short notice nightshift last night so I'm all confuddled.

Glad to hear that the return to work has gone smoothly CB.

I'm like that on a Sunday when I've been in the pool then the jacuzzi and finally the steam room.

Nor me, I only go because it's 'expected'.  If I end up with arthritis and need help (don't get me wrong, they would/will/do help me now) they would be able to say 'If you'd gone swimming when you had the use of that pool all to yourself...blah...blah...blah'  So if I go, at least it looks as though I'm looking after my health (a bit)  I find it boring. Woman Indifferent

I'm pisces too, I can swim but it's so  boooooring!

I am a fire sign so no water baby even though we have had boats all of our lives. I can swim enough to save my life! I admit to not missing the boating much although we had some very good times.

I can no longer swim as the legs just don't work the way they did. I am not allowed in the bath, much less the swimming pool, but if this hip ever does heal up I will be using the hydrotherapy pool at one of the local special schools as often as I can as I can walk when supported by the water and I can exercise in the water - I do need the water to be warmer than usual though as cold water just makes everything seize up.

CG - can you not find a good aquarobics dvd and use that - might be less boring than just swimming up and down on your own?

The health club I go to have several aquarobics sessions a week.  Must admit that I've never been to one of these sessions but I do find that swimming does help the joints a bit.

Cor, that sounds energetic stroppy!!!  Woman LOL

I get in there, I float and just pull myself along with a sort of doggy paddle of the arms.  I just pull my legs straight out behind me.  I'm not allowed to do breast stroke so I give a few feeble kicks.  I just do my 50 lengths as quick as possible. It takes half an hour. So if I leave home at 10 am, get there, get changed, raise the cover, put the radio on do my fifty, get out have a shower, get dressed, cover the pool and get home it's just on 11 am.  Twice a week.  Doesn't make me feel any different physically but mentally I feel very virtuous!! Woman LOL

oh I'm soooo envious of you being able to swim on your own CG!!!

I don't go to the public baths, I've had too many nasty experiences with horrible people it's put me right off.

I think I'd rather live in a shed with a swimming pool than a house without one!!!!

Must admit that I love going for my swim.  I think that I've said before that I go to a health club.  Over the weekend, I tend to be there when they open so I miss the littlies whilst they are having their swimming lessons.  It's not so much the children but the parents that take them.  Sunday's parents aren't so bad but Saturday's parents are something else.

when I lived in Southport, Chris, I too joined a club, it was great! we would get there at 7am and be first in the pool. My boss would go in the steam room, which I can't go in as they make me cough!!!! they had a jacuzzi too which I love. I think I was a member there for about 5yrs. We did go once in the evening and we were like fish in a salmon farm!! all squished in it was just plain ridiculous, you could only stand in the pool and dip yourself!!

must admit it was the best time of my life that, in my late 30's

Up at silly o'clock to organise a workshop for 14 ladies. Should be fun but I am not a natural early bird. It's not raining so that's a good start. Have a good Saturday everyone.

Enjoy your workshop Maggie.

Bit dull and damp here at the moment but hoping it will blow over as the forecast was good.

Even on my days off I can't get a lie in as for some reason my stoopid body clock still decides that 5am or earlier is the time I should rise and there's no way I can drop back off to sleep.
