All the decs down now & the house looks like normal again. I do need another plastic box though as the stuff I had in bags got damp last year.

I've started to take them down, there's lots of plastic boxes, so it takes a couple of days. I'll take down all the bits and bobs in the lounge tomorrow but I leave the swag on the fireplace and the tree until the last minute....I love my tree!!
Maggie, you take care tonight and tomorrow....nasty weather coming your way...and ours I think. x

We have taken all our Christmas cards down but we'll leave the rest until Sunday or Monday.
The wind has got up here over the last half hour or so. I hate it as it's frightening.
Hope that everyone manages to stay safe and well.

I have informed Damson that it's a duvet day tomorrow! lol
02-01-2014 10:38 PM
but did Damson listen Maggie?
I'm currently staying at my daughters in Kent, had a lovely walk down the beach with fish & chips earlier & just watched Despicable Me with my 8 year old granddaughter, don't know which of us enjoyed it the most. We're warching Despicable Me 2 tomorrow before I leave for home.

We watched that at Christmas Gina. It's brilliant! The little girl with the glasses on is my Amy look alike! Damson will be quite content staying in tomorrow.

Afternoon all. This morning it was wet and windy. This afternoon has been bright and breezy. Now, it's dark and breezy. We've not had it anywhere near as bad as other parts of the country.
Hope that Damson enjoyed duvet day Maggie.

We both did Chris! lol

Evening all.
Been wet and windy here but no where near as bad as they forecast , however the river Dee looked fit to burst on the way home from work so don't think it will take a lot more for it to go .

Hopefully, the Dee won't flood Stan but looking at the weather forecast on North West Tonight, they've forecast more rain. I thought that it would it have been worse here but I feel sorry for people who are badly affected in other parts of the country.

Yes here in the N West it has been chucking it down, really throwing it at the windows.
Just popped in to say Merlin your Reece's Pnut Bter is fab, used the full ingredients & some ground almonds, and a handful of cashews which I chopped roughly, that were skulking around the back of the cupboard.
Verdict delicious..... but.... MOH absolutely loves it.... now I need a recipe for something he won't scoff!

Just having a rest now for 5 minutes, taking down the decs. why does it take longer to put away than it does to put up and I have run out of boxes. Could have something to do with all the new decs I bought I suppose, OH has gone out and forgotten to take the tree boxes down so that will have to wait. House is an absolute bombsite, and I don't really know where to start putting things back.
Nice stiff drink for Vicky please.

Here you go Ed. My decs have been down for days but the boxes are still stacked in the breakfast room as it's chucking it down & the shed they live in is down the garden.
04-01-2014 12:56 PM
Oh thats a shame, thanks for the drink tequilla sunrise if I am not mistaken.
Our decs live in the corner of the garage, so they are easy to put away, they are all stacked neatly but I seem to have a few bits that haven't got a box, aaarrrrgggghhh.

Actually mine are going in the garage this year as the shed roof is leaking but that is at the end of the garden too! I could do with another box too so might pinch the kids toybox.

I'm taking mine down a few at a time but I'll leave the tree until Suzie the cleaner comes on Wednesday to go up the tall stepladder to get the baubles off the top. Mine all live in the loft.
04-01-2014 1:23 PM
I don't go in the loft these days. It's a long way up the ladder as this is a Victorian house with very high ceilings! Also the ladder has to sit on a wooden box as it's not quite long enough. The garage is a better option as I have never used it for the car.

I don't blame you Maggie. We have a fold down loft ladder but I'm not too good on ladders since I had my hip done. I think the architect is drawing a staircase at the moment, up to the gallery in preparation for the upstairs. I think it'll mean losing the cloakroom (which is ok as I never liked it anyway) so then it'll be easy to access the loft.
