I agree, it takes ages to get over the death of a pet because they always seem to be there. We're 'dogless' for the first time since we got married in '76. Only a nutter cat (aka The Ginger Ninja) now. I'd love another rescue dog but we both work & it wouldn't be fair to doggie, so we now sponsor several via Dogs Trust.

Off to Liverpool straight after work tonight, going to have another go at our Head Offices Open Day that I failed miserably at in February by fainting within 30 mins of getting there. Not doing it by car in one day this time though, train tonight, hotel overnight & train back tomorrow night.

Then back into the hospital visiting routine & looking round & picking a care home for mum. Unfortunately having to pick out one that has excellent references for palliative care as that is the best we can hope for now (not that she knows, or wants to know, that). She's actually looking forward to it as she wants to leave hospital but is to frightened to live in the flat on her own & refuses to move in with family. So at least I haven't got any guilt feelings over the decision to worry about.

Hope it all goes well at head office G, I'm sure you will be fine this time. Difficult one choosing a nursing home for your Mum but you'll get it right. Just remember she once chose your nursery school! It's a cycle of life. Oh bugger I've just remembered my eldest hated his nursery school...you don't think he will hold it against me!

🙂 Good job it doesn't work like that Hugs, we were just sent to the nearest school, mum had no interest in our education (I'm sure she still doesn't know that I took & passed 6 O Levels), & she arranged a weeks holiday (a rarity when we were young) during the week of the 11+ so I never even got to take that!

Morning all.  Hope that everyone is as well as can be expected.

Gina, I hope that you manage alright in Liverpool this time.  Liverpool is only about 12 miles away from where I live so you'll be in my neck of the woods.  Hope that you get a home sorted out for your mum soon.

I've got to have my mum at the dentist at 10 so we'll take it from there.  Due to the fact that she's on warfarin, I can see us ending up at the hospital.   I've not been for a swim this morning as I get the feeling that there would have been moans if I'd have gone and there's still moans because I haven't.  I seriously get the feeling that I can't do right for doing wrong.  At the end of the day, it's my mum that counts.

I think you count too! You need your 'me' time, don't let that slip.

Thanks Huggles.  Hopefully, on Thursday, I might get some 'me' time.  I enjoy going for a swim 'cos it loosens my joints up a bit so we will see what happens at the dentist shortly.  We are supposed to be going on a trip with the retired staff association of the firm my mum worked for tomorrow so, at the moment, a swim may be out then but we shall see.

Hugs for everyone who needs them.:-x It's a gorgeous day here but next door is having her house re pointed & the builders are grinding out the old mortar. The garden & all the plants & my car is covered in cement dust! I have to keep all the windows closed & I am worried that Damson will lick her paws after being out there. They will come & hose it all down when they have finished but that won't be until Wednesday. I can't even go into the back garden as it sets my asthma off!  What a waste of the sunshine.

I am going away for the weekend on Friday morning until Monday. Jackie has a caravan booked at Paignton. It will just be us two & the kiddies.
