As requested, a place for us to ask for help and advice from other stitchers and to show the things we make.

I love the charity shops too, quite a few in my little town!!

I am torn between a Singer and a Janone (online) right now, but still not sure about the top-loading bobbin, I quite like the idea of being able to see it through a little window!

Essex I would go for the Janome personally but I am biased! 😉 I have had front loading & top loading bobbins & as long as the bobbin is in correctly there is no difference.
Good Jac. I hope she is a helpful contact.:-)

I'm sure you'll do that standing on your head Jac.

You are creative, and it will show.

I much prefer alteration or changing something for a different purpose than starting from scratch.

I did a summer dress for my first ever project from a pattern, it turned out OK, took a long time and when it was done I hated it so much that I never wore it!! Luckily a friend fell in love with it and paid the materials cost so no a complete waste of time.

# 308,, hmmm,,, was not sure about a 'computerised' one, Singer do one at similar price, but think mechanical might be best, I will be taking it to France and don't want servicing problems.

when your making fabric hearts.......you sew around but then you have to stop at some point to turn around but how do you finish the sewing, also what do you stuff the hearts with, i will do lavender in some, but others id like just plain, same with pillows etc 🙂 :)

You mean when you have left a gap to put the stuffing/lavender in, you have to slipstich the hole? not sure what to use for stuffing, never done that myself. I am sure someone will be along to tell you properly!

You can buy stuffing Jac. Needs to conform to standards if you are going to sell them.

When you get to where you want the gap do a couple of reverse stitches. At the beginning too. I stuff them with lavender but you will be able to get polyester stuffing for toys easily. I have done some with the small poly beads you put into bean bags too.

All toy stuffing you buy in craft shops is safe to use. Slip stitch is a neat hand stitch way to close up the gap.
