Neither of mine knew what they wanted to do. Son was into maths and science, got 13 O levels and 4 A levels, was offered places in three unis, Durham, Exeter and London, then decided he didn't want to go!:O
He now owns his own property development company.
Daughter got 12 O levels but didn't go to 6th form, she worked her way up in insurance until her age held her up as she was doing the higher level work but not getting paid for it as she wasn't old enough to be in that level!! She's now a joint partner in the company.
When they were young they fought like cat and dog. When they were teenagers they lived in the samr house but just about ignored each other, now they couldn't be closer!:^O

sorry to totally change the subject
but before i forget (again)
my mum came today
she said she had made me something:|
she gave me a wee box, with round balls of chocolate in them
my mum doesnt cook or bake, my dad was a chef so she never needed to,
i was dubious, she told me they were like bounty bars
put them in the fridge and forgot about them, just had one, they are delicious
she said they were cheap and easy to make
i must get the recipe from her if anyone is interested
love my mum to bits but a baker she isnt
so they must be easy

When I was young, I wanted to open and cafe and write a book. Not necessarily in that order though LOL!
As I've gotten older, I've realised quite how much work would be involved in owning & running (As I'd want to be the one doing the doing) an eatery would involve. It's not something i could now even think about doing as I want/need to be available in the day for PJ & H. I remember being all cocky as I handed in my business studies assignment to the man from Barclays who'd been asked to assess them. I was taken to one side afterwards and offered a start-up loan! I wonder what life would be like if I had accepted?
I'm not entirely sure I've got a book in me anymore, although one friend still frequently tells me that I have. It'd have to be a short one! :-D. She did lend me a Bill Bryson book once (short short stories) to prove that I could but I'm not convinced.
I wonder when all my drive and ambition disappeared? ?:| I'm now quite happy just being me (Although perhaps it wouldn't hurt to be a squiffy bit better off LOL!)

I'm afraid the only ambition I ever had since being a young child was to be a wife and mother. Not very world shattering but I did it and have never wanted anything else.:-D
08-03-2011 10:31 PM
its not something i would actively go seek out
i am just really surprised
my mum doesnt like cooking or baking
i shall phone her in the morning and get the recipe, and take a photo of the ones i have
she made them into balls and put the in petite fours cases
i did think back to years ago, there was a choc bar, cabana, it was like a bounty but had cherries in it
no reason they couldnt be added to this

Son wanted to be in graphic design, did his first year in sixth form and the teacher he had he couldn't connect with, so finished.
Daughter well!! she never wanted to do anything lol.
Both are doing well for themselfs but doing something they had no interest in at school.
I always wanted to be in fashion design when i was young, but didn't take exams or stay on at school, when my kids were young i used to make & supply mums at various play group's with outfits of jogger trew's, skirts, sweat tops and cardigans all matching, and then just moved on to different things from there.
08-03-2011 11:04 PM
Took me ages to type that out :^O can you tell i didn't take secraterial studies.
Chocolate binds me, perhaps i'm not eating the right stuff 😉
