THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

How can you tell if you're going senile or if you're  just stupid?

I've been making a swing seat and canopy as the grandchildren's one is old and worn out.  I was working on the canopy this afternoon and needed to overlock two triangular pieces.  I went and took the cover off the overlocker, pulled the spool holder thingy up, got the lead  plus foot pedal and extension lead, set it up on the table and sewed the pieces. Then I put the spool holder thingy down, gathered up the pedal and the lead and the extension socket and put them away, putting the cover back on.  Came back to the sewing and realised I needed four of these pieces, so I went and took the cover off, gathered up.....you know the rest.

But first I need to measure and cut the two additional  pieces, so I measure it out and start to cut.  Half way along the scissors seemed not as sharp as they had been when I started. That's when I realised I was cutting through the main part of the work as well as the new pieces!:O  :_|

I'd cut about an inch into the main body, but hey ho, a little bit of spare fabric stuck on the back and it's now invisible!:^O

Not as bad as my brother-in-law. In the 70s he moved into a new house & bought deep shag pile carpets (as was the fashion then), but because they were so thick he had trouble closing the door so decided to take an inch off of the bottom. He took the door off of the hinges, laid in on the floor, sawed an inch off, went to rehang it....only to find an inch missing at the top! Silly sod had turned it when he laid it down!

This is the swing seat I've been recovering.  I only had the old one to copy but if I'd had the whole thing  here I would have made it slightly longer and slightly fuller on the fringe bit of the canopy.:|
