Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Emma - doesn't hurt now. Just aches from using crutches and even those are bearable.

Good luck Petitie 🙂 xx

Right - no more faffling about - I must get that iron out to press the fabric I need for patchwork.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I have a huge amount of fabric saved over time and would like to use it for patchwork. Problem is that it is mainly poly/cotton. I read everywhere to only use 100% cotton but would it matter that much ?

I will be around on and off but am trying to do a few things round the house. Another one on crutches, I broke my hip 9wks ago and i'm bored. 😞

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

If you want to use poly cotton carry on. It's harder to be accurate with poly as you can't press crisp seams & it's not as easy to quilt but try it & see how you get on.:-)

Sorry I've been AWOL - busy looking after Mum who hasn't been too good after her second operation.

Whilst sitting with her I've managed to finish the socks I started on holiday.

Glad to hear you're more mobile Hippy 😄

L2me, hope your mum is ok, I love the socks!!

Mrs Meow, I did some patchwork snugglies last year made from a mix of polycotton, pure cotton and fleece. Its been washed and tumble dried several times (not something I would suggest!!) and it hasn't gone mis-shapen yet!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Hi towery! Can't believe you remember their names. Yes, they're both great thanks! Mary is a madam of the first order, bossy as hell, and very opinionated. George, after a very slow start in life that had us all believing he was going to have some degree of learning difficulty (you may well remember me being upset at his refusal to read) is gradually coming into his own and rapidly catching up to his peers. I'm very proud of both of them. Hope you and yours are well. The dust sounds intriguing. I haven't read back on the thread at all as it would take a lifetime to catch up - have you had a lot of work done?

the builders are here to do several things, pointing the front, they changed the guttering today, they had to put air bricks in a wall and are changing worktops in the kitchen next week, along with re-grouting and decorating

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Nope, can't drive yet, and the whole returning to college thing went out of the window too as the cakes took off. But I will be learning to drive soon, as its becoming increasingly difficult to deliver the cakes, as OH is working longer and longer hours!

Hope the building work doesn't take much longer. We've had a lot of work done on the house in the last year and I'm close to demented with it all. Thankfully the light at the end of the tunnel is ever brighter!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

The family have just gone home. We did go swimming in the end yesterday & it was lovely.:-) Jamie managed to hit his front tooth & chip it which was the downside to the outing though!

Damson has been a bit unwell too but seems to be more perky today. She is on chicken & rice at the moment!

Time to tidy up the debris & put the Vax round now.>-D

Waves back to gems.

I've just been reminded that I'm babysitting tonight!

They were going to come here overnight, but grandson isn't feeling too well and although it's not bad enough to make them feel they should stay home, she thinks he'll be better in his own bed plus it'll save me having to get up in the night if he feels worse. 😞  Huh!!
