Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Oh CG we've driven past that place many times. Sounds like a freezer filling trip is in order one day.

Poor Huggy - being Twishied!

You'd think with all my spare time I'd have loads of stuff done - wrong - today I've mended a cushion!

I blame the visitors 🙂 One sister this am and another this pm.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

good morning ladies:-D

been a busy couple of days (not me, them!)

but of course that involves me!:^O

yesterday was a weird one

had a phone call, a cousin i havent seen in over 20 years

and that was my dads funeral for 20 minutes, before that it was when i was  a small child, he is older so never bothered with a "wee girl" cousin

he phoned and spoke like we were best buds and only spoke last week, he was on for almost an hour, and the whole time i am thinking "why are you  phoning?????"

then someone else phoned i havent seen in 3 years, we had a good old chat then he said, "i best go or i wont be in time for coffee at 11!" and laughed

i laughed and said true

11 o clock door goes, and there they were!

ended up staying for dinner:^O

i came to bed last night and wondered if i am dying:^O

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

they did very well Hippy, thanks for asking

Lolly had an unconditional, but still did well

Bradley got his As

so 6th year is going to be tough

he will sit advanced highers rather than the highers, which he sat last year

and he is doing a day at uni as well, as he is a baccalaureate this year

i feel he may as well speak some foreign language to me most of the time, well i think he does:^O

how is the leg feeling? are you managing to sleep at night? always think if you can get a good sleep you are better able to cope with it during the day a wee bit more

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Sounds like they did very well. Not 100% au fait with the scottish system but it sounds good 🙂

Leg is ok. I am sleeping - starting to get used to having to sleep on my back - am normally a tummy sleeper. I do wake up but doze off again pretty quickly.

Just listening to the forecast for today - its going to be warm here - not what you want with a cast. My ideal weather at the moment is cool (19/20) and dry.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Bless him - the hat looks witchy to me with added straw. Can you do something out of card?? Make a cone and then add the brim??

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning.:-) Very warm here already!

The hat looks as if it's made of felt. Not sure how I would tackle it at all. Sorry!

Glad you are managing to sleep Hippy. I think I would have trouble sleeping on my back!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning.:-D

I would have thought merlin of all people would already have plenty of hats like that.]:)

I would have thought black felt. Double thickness for the brim with either heavyweight interfacing or very thin card in between the two layers.

Do you mean these two people turned up together merlin, was it pre-arranged by them?

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

close up of the hat..

card base with black material on top to make it less *straight*

you need a cone of card and a donut shape card.. the inner circle of the donut needs to be cut a bit bigger and snipped ( like you would a curved seam) fold the snipped bits up and stick them inside the cone.

cover the whole thing in black material, leaving some folds and rough edges..

well it made sense in my head!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

morning all, funny weather here, not sure how it's going to turn out but at least it's been dry so that the littlest 'refugees' can get into the garden.

Builders think that they can start putting floorboards down in the main house (not the conservatory, they reckon that'll be another 2 weeks to dry out) so Yve etc might be able to move back in just after the weekend. So I've had a funny week off with people that don't live here turning up at random times.

Chez - it makes sense to me - thats sort of what I'd do. In fact I did similar years ago for a top hat for MrH.
