Von has a very clever sewing machine.:-D
I have made a knitting needle roll today. Quite pleased with it & I think I will make some more.:-)
26-08-2011 11:49 PM
Umph!!! I came across a half knitted baby jacket so decided to finish it. The back, one front and one sleeve were done, leaving one front and one sleeve to do. I did the front and then realised it was a slightly deeper colour (lilac) than the rest, so I decided to give it a quick plunge in some bleachy water. It didn't make any difference. I did it again with a little more bleach, then again with more bleach. Not a jot of difference. This is Domestos thick bleach. You splash a drop on your best clothes and you've got a white circle! I guess it's because it's acrylic rather than cotton. Apart from sunlight, which is in short supply round here at the moment, has anyone got any good ideas how I can fade it? I've got enough of the paler yarn to do the sleeve but not enough to do both.:-(

morning ladies:-D
sort of over cast here today
we had lots of thunder yesterday, but I read that Brad pitt had to stop filiming in glasgow yesterday due to the weather conditions..... it was TOO sunny:^O
i think thats a first!
Glasgow city centre has an area that has been turned into what looks like Philidelphia at the moment, streets are lined with american cars, american street signs, walk/dont walk traffic light thingys, the whole works
i think i may have to go and borrow some for my diner:^O
kirsty was on set a few days ago and was watching the guy fill the newspaper dispenser things they have on the streets and asked the guy for one:|
my gran would have said
"she would get a piece (sandwich) at any door":^O
Von may have a very clever machine Maggie, but lets face it, i could go buy a very clever machine too, doesnt follow suit i could also produce clever things!:^O
besides we still like to see photos, well i do!
(yes Maggie that was at you too!:^O being den mother doesnt exempt you!)
knows nothing about wool chickengrandma
rip out a sleeve and have 2 matching paler ones?

lovely & sunny here to after yesterdays rain. I want to cut the grass but it will still be wet for ages, hopefully it'll dry out soon.
Got Rhoni staying from last night & expecting my other 'refugees' shortly. Yves family got flooded out 3 weeks ago & the insurance company have put them up inn hotels until the house is declared safe again (no floorboards) & they've been spending thier days & mealtimes here as 2 adults & 3 kids ( 2 under 2) in one room is stressing them out a bit.Luckily last week they were moved to a hotel about 400 yds from my house (albiet on the other side of the busy A40)

27-08-2011 9:14 AM
She was a pressie for a friend - is actually based on my friend and the sort of clothes she wears 😉 Though her hair isn't red & turquoise!!
I will pop in - I've just out of the habit.
27-08-2011 9:16 AM
hopefully it'll be dry by next week & the builders can lay the new floorboards & carpeting.
Yve says she tries not to get stressed as she knows lots have it worse than her & at least she was insured & that they are all together, but sometimes it's not easy. especially as they were originally told it would only be for 2 days (so they only took 2 days clothes etc with them) & it's now in the 3rd week.
Poor Sassys birthday party (on tuesday) has had to be diverted as well!
27-08-2011 9:18 AM
i was hoping you were building a dolly empire Hippy
littlie from next door was in
she goes into Lollys room, and always cuddles a bear she has
she was looking at my dolly (its in an old glass fronted dresser with her cauldron,) she cant really speak yet, she looked at me, at the dolly and back at me
so i took her in the kitchen and started playing in there:^O
X-(MY dolly!
27-08-2011 9:21 AM
thats rough Gina:-(
water is an enormous entity
if something falls down, you build it again
damage done by water isnt always so visable
she will need to have 2 birthdays
a wee one on her birthday
and a proper one once everyone is settled again
27-08-2011 9:52 AM
Nice to see all your makes Hippy - your crochet is really coming on :-x
CG - you could try lemon juice on your yarn?
Gina, sorry to hear about your daughter - must be tough, but at least they are near you.
Heavy rain again today - may be staying in if it doesn't ease off.
Have started knitting the items from Alan Dart's Advent Tree for my Grandson. First four are fruit - apple pear tangerine and plum
