Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I doubt it. They are lovely & smooth & light. The usual size needles for Double Knit wool is a 4mm (size 8). I used to knit squares on the diagonal increasing every row until big enough & then decreasing every row until I had one stitch left. That made a nice straight square.:-)

Me again

Thank you - production line in full swing! Bear 3 almost done - just one arm left to do.

Good luck Merlin - I started on squares in January for a blanket - its currently at 81 squares so nice and usable - just needs another band putting on to make it 11 x 11 squares - might get finished next year!!

And yes wooden/bamboo needles are lovely to use - I start with metal ones but now have switched to mostly bamboo with occasionally vintage plastic ones.

I think we scared her away with all this talk of knitting sticks! :^O

Lovely & sunny here with only a smidge of snow. I am hoping it will melt in the sun.

Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

😄

morning

no, not scared away
yet

well we have woken up to a blanket of snow here and really low temps again

i cast my eyes over the news headlines this morning, i dont usually
i wish i hadnt

i'm not a very christmassy person, but tragic headlines always seem a little harder to bear at this time of year, the wee girl stabbed it seems by her mother, and the 2 students killed in glasgow yesterday morning:-(

suddenly presents & wrapping paper dont seem so important anymore

Morning ladies.:-D  On the brighter side my cold seems a bit better, I only had one coughing fit in the night and I feel better in myself today.:-D

Our turkeys don't feel too good though!:-(  The deed was done this morning,:_|

We haven't got any more snow today but look out merlin! I told hubby he should go and live with you as he was complaining his hands were cold.  He said it was -7.6 earlier, but it's only -2.9 now so I don't know what's to complain about!?:|

Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

your mum sounds like my gran
a wise lady

the students were killed at 11am, just outside one of the biggest shopping malls in the city
but they had obvioulsly either been going to uni, or coming out, as its prime student land, 2 unis very nearby, its too close to home for me, mentally & geographically

and that wee 4 year old girl
why did no one recognize the mother needed help?

i know its stupid
but my first thought was, i would have looked after her, i would have taken her in if her mother found she could no longer cope

imagine what the police had to deal with
poor wee girl, a week before christmas
she should have been excited about santa coming
its all a 4 year old should have to experience  at this time of year:-(

Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

chickengrandpa would have already frozen turkeys if he brought them here:^O

gosh i would be fascinated if he brought them here
and maybe once he had gone my neighbours might be a bit more sympathetic to me wanting a couple of chickens]:)

ooohi could knit them clothes
and give them names
and play with them:^O

chickengrandpa would hate me wouldnt he??:_|

Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

they'd die of cold anyway waiting for you to learn to knit so they could have clothes. :^O

Had a whole list of 'to dos' for today as I'm working up until christmas. All the christmas stuff is done so I had today down for a mini house-blitz, but I still feel like crap (no energy whatsoever) so I've got to hope that I have some energy after work this week & can do a bit at a time.

Hate being ill as I always feel guilty if I'm not doing anything.

Lovely blizzard going on outside though, haven't got my usual saturday morning visitors though because for some odd reason grandsons football club has been cancelled! It's held in the park at the end of my road (SIL is one of the coaches) so Yve & Sassy come round here then after training Rob & Scott join us for bacon sarnies.Hubby is at work as well, so it's very quiet.

:^O poor wee frozen turkeys
i would bring them inside and we could look out the window at the snow

i would teach them to play chess, and we can watch rubbish christmas films, but none where they are eating christmas dinner:O they may recognize relatives:^O

Re: : THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

There you go merlin, you can measure them up before you start knitting.  They won't be quite as big because they haven't got any feathers at the moment.:-D

Are you full of good intentions gina?  I have been all week, but when it comes to actually doing the jobs the energy just saps away!:-(
