I'll have you know I lived in Scotland (for about 6 months) when I was 16, merlin. I think I was on the other side though, Elgin, in Morayshire. I did learn a bit of the lingo though.:-D
01-11-2010 8:39 PM
i was just telling bradley at you saying here too at the end
he has a temp physics teacher
he told me last week the teacher tld them they would be conducting the sukoot experiment
they all looked at each other
no idea what it was
it was to measure the weight of air
he got all the stuff out and said one machine was to "sook oot" all the air:^O
bradley & his classmates just 😮
they dont have teachers who speak like that at the grammar!
01-11-2010 8:42 PM
:^O
01-11-2010 8:43 PM
oh but you are miles off in elgin
the east and west coast divide is hooge inspite being 40 miles away, but you also have the northern aspect in there as well
gosh, morayshire is like comparing malvern & manchester:^O
01-11-2010 8:51 PM
But it wasn't too quiet merlin, remember it's just by Lossiemouth!;-)
01-11-2010 9:00 PM
i;ve never been to lossiemouth
but in general the east & north are far softer spoken than the weeegies, the dialects change very much
edinburgh is 40 miles away, and its a whole different language
lossiemouth must be 200 miles away at least
thats positively foreign:^O
or as they say here "furrin"

ma dads side of the family are from portobello, currie, niggar, peeblesshire so i grew up with with a lovely ear for them speaking, took a couple of days to get back into it and to stop sating 'sorry could you repeat that' when on holidays up there
so i thought i knew scotss, but i had a couple of women from glasgie come for a month to a firm when i lived in aylesbury and i had to keep asking them to repeat themselves even in the 2rd week 😐
