Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

Hi, I hope you dont mind me butting in but I have a question and its not actually about sowing (sorry) although it is about crafting.

My daughter got married over the week-end and now Ive got all the flower arangements which included pine cones and candles. I thought it would be nice to make them into some Christmas (sorry again) decorations for her, but I dont know where to get wooden bases from and dont know who to ask.

Can anyone on here help me please?  🙂

Yes merlin, or perhaps smaller ones to go on a mantlepiece, possibly as well as a table centre

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

what about using the bases that they use to mount small statues on
it would be easy to find the size you were looking for
you would need to fix them in place if you used that though
just trying to think what else you could use
hmmmmmmm

i am a member of another forum
and one of the guys works with wood
he is amazing
i shall try and find his etsy shop (least i THINK its etsy)
if you cant find what you are looking for i am almost sure he would be able to turn you something

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

oooooooooooh i just thought
i have an old pocket watch
its on a display stand, with a dome
(its small obviously, and the watch hangs from a glass hook in the top of the dome

again i know someone who bought bigger ones
wooden base, with a groove all the way round
and a dome on top
they used it to display things they made at a fair
what about one of those?
that way it would be protected from dust etc as well

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

I hadnt thought about a dome. Hmmmmm.........

Could work, but would have to be quite a big one, I was thinking of making a table centre about 9"" across.

What would you search for?

bookworm i have PM'd you his site
the domes bases are for model makers

but i am sure you can get them for some sort of science thing as well, and i bet they would be a lot cheaper
however they may look a lot cheaper as well

are we in the right ball park?
i like the contour one here

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

**pokes Gems for poking bookworm**

i cant find prices either
with wood, each piece will be different i suppose
price will be depndant on what you require
usually pieces like that are there to show you what they have done or can do
the taxidermy ones will be a good bit more though
thats why i didnt suggest them
