I was thinking of doing some sweets as presents for Christmas and wondered if anyone else does this. They can look so nice and apart from at school when i made Peppermint Creams i think i have never had a go at this!!. It would make a nice Home Made Gift and i do like Peppermint or Coconut Ice and Fudge. I could get some pretty boxes and tissue paper. maybe others use this idea at the Festive time of Year?.

I think it's a great idea rose as people really appreciate the effort when something is homemade. Fudge is easy and you can put different things in it like walnuts and chocolate. I have made chocolate truffles which are delish but a bit fiddly and you've got to make a lot of them to make up for the ones you eat whilst making them!
I am going to try my hand at making French Macarons, a bit tricky to make apparently, that's why they cost so much to buy so worth a go I think. I also give people my jams/jelly's and chutneys, oh and fruit steeped in Sercial Madiera, that always goes down well. Good to put over ice cream. Recipe from Nigella's Christmas book.

I think that's a lovely idea
I made some coconut ice last year for my Dad, it went down very well. He'll get some more this year too, amongst other things.
It's a really good idea for those difficult to buy for, a foody gift is always acceptable

I usually do some biscuits or candies for Christmas presents to friends and family. 🙂 Problem is I usually have to sample them too!! You know you have to make sure they are okay for others to eat.

Peppermint creams mmmm yum yum my favourite, with one side dipped in chocolate
Sadly I don't have too many people that I could give sweets to, my mother has diabetes, father don't like sweets and nobody else would appreciate them, so I would have to eat them all my self.

we always make things to give at christmas
Nigella's chili jam (which isnt jam at all) is fab, always goes down a treat, easy and looks beautiful
our chutneys are usually caramelised onion, and sweetcorn relish
sweeties we make a few kinds, rum truffles, peppermint creams, tablet (thanks to Rose her recipe is lush) things like reeces pieces for the peanut butter lovers, we make them in small bars and round ones called buckeyes
we made chocolate slabs, covered with the recipients favourite things embedded into them (crushed up crunchie is lovely)
and we make peppermint bark every year now as everyone loves that
we make snowman soup as well (technically not a "make" as such) but always goes down well, usually given with a nice mug
we package ours in cellophane, you get bags on here with a pull off seal strip
then decorate with ribbon etc
keeps them nice and fresh
tablet
peppermint cream
snowman soup (we did these with chocolate dipped spoons as stirrers as well with crushed candy canes, minty hot choc)

Sweet chilli jam is my favourite to give at Christmas as it is a Christmasy colour, I have made mine already,
I love tablet my Aunt and Uncle lived in Scotland when I was a child and when we went on holiday we always use to bring some back with us and Edinburgh rock.

edinburgh rock makes your teeth squeak

I used to get a present from a girl in work every year, cherries in Kirsch and some othr bottled fruit, unfortunately it was in syrup which I had to rinse off but they still tasted lovely.
