Well the latest is that I'm stuck here for at least another week. They need to change the "line"" that they use for I.V. meds, and there is only one nurse who can do it, so it can't be done before Tuesday at the earliest.

Pressure dressing on the wound seems to be working, is pulling loads of gunk out. There is a horrible itchy rash under the dressing for my I.V. line.

Managed to get a shower this morning, but as usual they only do half a job - the bathroom is left with wet towels everywhere, and they leave the shower chair by the bed.

I'm bored and fed up and I want to go home.

Apparently changing the I.V. line is a very specialist job, especially judging from the pain they caused and the mess they made when the anesthetic team tried it last week. The specialist nurse is VERY good, she always manages and doesn't hurt me. There are usually 3 specialist nurses, but one is off sick, and one is on leave.

Actually, keep this very quiet - I'm at home. Consultant said I could go for a bit of a wander in my wheelchair, well I just happened to wander to the car and come home. Will have to go back, and boy has it been difficult being up in my chair, but it will be good to start doing more.

Trevor says that they have to find an alternative dressing that doesn't cause the irritation - they're going to have a devil of a job finding one!

Yes, the pressure dressing does make everything much more comfortable, and since it only needs to be done once every 3 days it means far fewer dressing changes.

Doctors want to replace it with a tiny surface dressing, that has a pump, with a 50ml reservoir - once the reservoir is full, it has to be thrown away. The pump has pulled out 150ml in the past hour, so I'm not sure how that idea s supposed to work.

As to who tidies up - husband did it, and cleaned the floor!

I'm glad the dressing seems to be working, they've got a lot of planning to do if they think the 50ml reservoir is going to work. Honestly, it sounds as if all these peeps are not trained in new techniques]:)

BUT...you really must take it easy, find ways to eliminate the boredom, I know it's hard do I ever know it's hard:_|
