Re: Stroppy Oppy

Oh Stroppy poor you 😞

As Maggie has said, why the hell are they still sticking that stuff on you when they know you're reacting to it, it wont be helping your body to heal at all, because it's now trying to deal with another problem which could be prevented X-(

If you don't feel able to shout from the roof tops, maybe there's someone else who can do that for you, this is just totally disgusting and leaving you for hours laying in a pool of blood X-(

Good idea to do your own dressings, at least you'll know that you wont react to them........but what sort of NHS is this becoming when people have to do that ?:| 😞

Of course you're not a happy bunny............I would be a dragon spitting fire at everyone if that were me X-(

Sending lots of gentle hugs your way and thinking of you :-x

Re: Stroppy Oppy

I'd ask to see the hospital manager at this rate Stroppy. It's getting out of hand now. Can you tell them to stop when they get the tape out? that's a good idea to get them to put a bit of bandage around your arm first and then tape it.

Obviousley rocket science is not for them at this hospitalX-(

I do think of you everyday and I hope things improve soon for you.

Re: Stroppy Oppy

Stroppy, this is terrible.  I'd certainly agree to speak to somebody in charge and soon.  Surely, they can see that you are allergic to the tape.

Sending you some more hugs.  If our hugs healed, you would be better now.

Re: Stroppy Oppy

Well, after a massive argument, they finally taped plenty of pads in place with the adhesive of my choice. Dressing is comfortable, isn't itching or sore, is staying in place and hasn't leaked!

They have finally done the blood transfusion that they were supposed to do on Thursday.

They are slowly coming round to my way of doing things and starting to realise that I do actually know something about what works with My body.

Re: Stroppy Oppy

Stroppy, I'm glad that they are doing something at last.  Carry on harrassing them but you shouldn't have to do that to get the correct treatment.

It's a pity a university degree doesn't teach common sense or observational skills.  What did they think was going on? An outbreak of tape-shaped chickenpox?

Did you take any pictures of this? For educational purposes? Then they could add "is the patient covered in weeping blisters" to their checklist - you know - somewhere after "is the patient bleeding" (is that even there?) but before "has the patient moved their bowels".

I think that is the crux of the problem.  Most people, after working really hard for a worthwhile degree leading to higher wages, greater job satisfaction and increased career chances are so not going to be impressed spending time cleaning up bodily fluids.  Takes a very special kind of person to want to be a nurse, an even more special type to be a good one and I really do think the present system excludes huge numbers from the profession who would actually be good at it.

Stroppy - hope you had a good night without too many interruptions and that common sense prevails..

I'm up for that cookie.  We should all go there now and start nagging.  Could you imagine their reaction if us lot all turned up at the same time?  They wouldn't know what had hit would they?

Sends more gentle hugs to Stroppy.

Re: Stroppy Oppy

Well, tissue viability have been - the lovely Trevor who went absolutely ballistic. He was fuming that I can spend 24 hours a day on my bum at home, but get pressure sores in hospital. I explained that the incontinence pads that they insist on using make me sweat, they crease up, make it very difficult to move about and they are extremely uncomfortable.

I now have a pressure relief mattress and all use of incontinence pads has been banned. I am to always have two fresh sheets, so that there is always plenty to absorb leakage. They are supposed to check and change the sheets every two hours. At night they can put a couple of towels between the two sheets for extra absorbency so that I am not disturbed in the night, but if I wake in the night, I can buzz and ask for the sheets to be changed.

I have special cream for my sore rear - the cream was actually on my rear within 40 minutes of Trevor shouting about it.

Special pump dressing to be done this afternoon.

Re: Stroppy Oppy

Just think what it could be like if everyone did their job properly!  I wonder why they don't.  Is it that they haven't got time?  Haven't got resources?  Haven't got ability?  Haven't got incentive?  What is it?????

I hope you feel a bit more comfortable stroppy. Is Trevor coming back?  Let's hope so.:-x
