My OH likes to spot lookalikes, but sometimes we have seen actual famous people on our holidays.
A few years back Mika Hakkinen and Charlotte Church were staying at my hotel!
This year we spotted a sad former celeb on the beach in Cornwall - Justin Lee Collins. Swanning around like a local celeb - he has a beach house there & is friends with the surf teacher dudes.
This one doesn't quite count as it was local & I didn't actually get to see this person, lol, BUT it was the last day of the summer holidays.....
Niall from One Direction was playing golf at an exclusive club near me!! I almost jumped in the car to go and try stalk him with my 1D mad daughter. But my friend who was there didn't invite us to meet her and security would never have let us in without a member.
But her blimmin Mum got to have a chat with Niall and get an autograph. Jammy. And Niall got to meet Russ Abbot's wife
So, did you see anyone?

I honestly don't think I'd notice if a "celebrity" was standing right next to me unless it
was someone very obvious. Underneath, they are all people just like us and, to me,
what they do on holiday etc is their business. They must get really fed up with all
these loopy peole clammouring to look/touch them etc everytime they go out.
Having said that, we've seen a few people on our travels, the latest being that
bloke off "Coast", the exciteable chap whos name I can't remember - he was
doing some filming on Lundy Island in August. I was sitting there, just passing
the time, for about 15 minutes before I even realised it was him. He was on the
boat going and coming back too, but people just let him enjoy his day as they
were.

once had the guy who played Greengrass in Heartbeat, can't think of his real name. he was a real nice guy, we didn't crowd him as he was in with his mate having breakfast. He was very polite to all the girls he came in contact with, a real gentleman.
I used to have Alan Hansen come into my office and sign autographs for me when I worked for Mizuno. He was lovely......swoon he looks better off the tv than on it!!!

I remember many many moons ago, the snooker player Denis Taylor had just won the world championship. A few weeks later, my mum and I were going on holiday and we were flying from Manchester Airport. My mum literally walked in to the afore mentioned Mr Taylor. She apologised profusely and just laughed. There was another professional snooker player called Willie Thorne and he stood there and laughed. They were two lovely gentlemen.

CaptainBovine - Greengrass was played by a bloke called Bill Maynard and my mum went to school with him.
Fishpieface - Willie Thorne at one time lived in the village where I live. Now my village's most famous resident is one international superstar called Engelbert Humperdinck. Last year when Eng sang at the Eurovision Song Contest our local pub had an extra special Eurovision party with a marquee outside and BBQ. I have met both Eng's wife Pat and his daughter Louise and when I worked in the local takeaway his son (name escapes me) was one of our regulars.
Apparently - many years ago, before they were well known, one well known double act Morecambe and Wise appeared at our village hall
Best I can come up with

I have been visited by Sean Bean, and by John Tams (played Hagman, the poacher in the Sharpe series), also Orlando Bloom (played Legolas the elf in Lord of the Rings), and John Rhys-Davis (Gimli the dwarf in Lord of the Rings).

Have known John Tams for many years from the local folk clubs and ceileidgh bands. He used to get his mate Sean Bean to go with him to take my lads to Alton towers - continues even still. Sean introduced most of the cast of Lord of the Rings, especially as he knew that my daughter wanted to meet both Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortenson.
Quite a few of the cast of LOTR keep in touch (mostly by email) and visit occasionally

my mum used to work in the first supermarket that appeared in the north west, and we had a lot of footballers living around us. Sandy Brown used to come in and use her till (Everton player in the 60's) and some others too, (now forgotten their names!!)

OMG
Last night I met a real pop star in a meet & greet after her concert - Selena Gomez!!
My daughter was so shuffed
This American woman just came over to us a few minutes before Selena was due on stage and asked us if we wanted to meet her after the show!!??
We have been watching Selena for years on Disney channel TV shows and my daughter has all her albums, and these tickets were a surprise Birthday present.... (my daughter was trying to win some in a Disney competition!)
Selena's a lovely girl but we only had a minute to have a photo taken with her. She's gorgeous, an absolute doll.
In case you are not familiar with who she is http://selenagomez.com/
