I have always had cats, but then I am lazy and you don't need to walk a cat.
But we have always had dogs too, and if it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't walk anywhere,
If I had to choose I would choose dogs they bring you so much joy and keep you fit.
but part of me secretly hankers for another cat, curled up on your lap purring away aaah.
'A dog has owners, a cat has servants' so very true

I like all animals, but I have to say cats. We've always had cats
and I'd miss not having one terribly.
I've never had a dog but don't dislike them, we meet loads when
we go for our evening walks in the fields.

Love both, but I'm definitely a cat person. My cats have kept me going through thick and thin, listen to all my nonsense and never judge, know exactly when I need comfort, play with me, make me smile when the world seems a horrible place and make everything worthwhile

Definitley a dog person. I would stroke a cat in someones house but hate them in my garden. Damson nearly got one yesterday. It shot up a tree & I had to turn the hose on it to get it to go into next door garden in case it came down on our side. At least they don't get time to poop in my flower beds with Damson out there!

I much prefer dogs. We had a couple of cats for their lifetime, but I've never wanted more. They're a bit like teenagers, use the house as a hotel to eat, sleep have their needs seen to then go off and do there own thing. You never know when they'll be home and spend half the night worrying where they are.
A dog is like a child, it relies on you for everything and wants to win your aproval all the time by doing silly things and grinning at you. It'll play with you when you want it to and go to sleep when it's tired. It misses you when you go out and shows you how pleased it is to see you when you get back. No contest I'm afraid.

Cats do THEIR own thing!! Why do I see these mistakes as soon as it's too late to alter them? I'm definitely going senile.

Aaah bless,
My too dogs are at present lying on their backs on the sofa snoring their heads off, after a long walk and breccy
What is it they say 'Its a dogs' life'

I am a BIG cat person. I love all animals though. Cats are my favourite, i have a twelve year old Tabby Bubbles who i inherited from my ex boyfriend and i love her so much. I had an eighteen year old cat Nicky who i had to put up in heaven about five years ago and it broke my heart!!!. Animals give so much and are so much fun and they calm you aswell, especially cats i think. I love Big Cats too and my favourite is the Cheetah.
I LOVE YOU BUBBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( ohhhhh gawd im gettin teary now over my sweet little MOG)
Cherish your animals everyone

I have had both over the years. At present I am the mum to Tintin the ginger tom cat but walk on a daily basis my friends chocolate lab Poppy.
Can honestly say I dont prefer one over the other - each bring their plus and minus points. Plus for cats is you dont really need to do much other than supply love food and water. The downside is that Tintin sometimes doesnt come home at night until first thing in the morning and then has the audacity to present me with a dead mouse or bird - yuk.
The plus for a dog is that you HAVE to get out and about for walkies and often meet other lovely dog owners along the way. The downside is the damn fur that needs to be hoovered up daily - and the smell of wet dog - yuk.
Easier for me when I go on holiday to have a cat because I just get somebody to come in each day to change the food and water - which can be done at their leisure.
Love them both equally really.
Would prefer a horse if I could though 🙂

I prefer dogs too. Am allergic to cat hair, always brings me out in a rash. Grew up with cats and dogs though. (And hens and pigs!)

I prefer dogs but I have had a foster cat who changed my view of cats. Himself only had three legs and I think that's why I got interested in him, he fascinated me the way he could cope with everyday life. He had a real owner about 5 doors away but he lived with us for 6yrs. I miss him everyday just like all the dogs we had.
I love animals, all animals.....except that norty squirrel who is eating all the flippin' bird nuts

Dogs.
I love most animals but dogs, especially Rough Collies, have my heart.
Having a dog in my life is what gets me through the bad days.
I can walk for miles with a dog alongside me, but there are days when I probably wouldn't have forced myself out of bed, let alone left of the house, if I hadn't had the dogs to excercise.

We've always had both - at the moment two cats and two dogs.
The cats are great amusement and company indoors, the dogs likewise outdoors.
IF I had to choose then I would go with the dogs, they give as well as take.

My daughter goes tomorrow to pick up one of those kittens I told you about a few weeks ago. It will be a boy and they still haven't thought of a name they all agree on. He will be a friend for George. It will be one of these but she doesn't know which one. I expect it's grown a lot in the weeks since she first went to look at them. I'll put a picture on tomorrow if she sends me one.

Cats definately. I have three at present - all rescues. A Devon Rex, an Oriental and an Abby . I used to adore Siamese, but they started to breed them so small and thin they didn't have a great constitution. For personallity I would go with the Abbys ever time, when an Abby loves you, they LOVE you, the Oriental is beautiful but dim, the Rex is not a pretty cat, but out-cutes anything, she's little, fat and adorable.
Although I do love big dogs too, Wolfhounds, Setters, Pointers and Danes are my favourites, but working full time I couldn't give it the attention it would need and deserve.

Good idea Maggie. When she told me (she said, 'You're not gonna like it') I said 'Oh, Jimmy? Little Jimmy?' I never thought of Jimmy Riddle!
