Right, I'll see if this works.
Will that do Merc? That was taken in Southport in July of this year.

Aww...she's lovely xxx
You look like your mum Chris...& she certainly looks much younger than her years.
*waves to Chris's mum*

My mum has just waved back Merc and she says thank you for your comment that she looks younger than her years. I agree though - she certainly doesn't look like she's 83.

Wow! She certainly doesn't look her age. What a lovely looking lady Chris.
Hope your ear is feeling better.

My mum says thank you for the kind comments CG. It is very nice of you.
I'm still deaf in my left ear and it is still discharging a bit. It is nowhere near as painful as it was. I finish taking the antib's tomorrow and I have to go and see my GP on Monday.
Thank you for your concern.

Sit with the deaf side next to your mum Chris...then you won't hear her nagging...only joking Chris's mum

Oh I've tried that one. It's surprising how quiet it is. Only joking here as well.

Been to the doctor's about my ear. He's given me some antibiotic drops to put in for a week. I have to go back and see him on 1st October. If it's no better, I will have to go to my GP's ear clinic. He is an ENT specialist as well as a GP. I'm still as deaf as a post in the said ear. Honestly, I should be shot.
21-09-2015 7:49 PM
Is the pain any better Chris?
I wonder if you need your ear syringed?
I get wax now and again and have to syringe it as it drives me mad.
Are you not swimming all this time?
21-09-2015 8:32 PM
The pain is a lot better thanks CG. At least I'm not climbing the walls any more. The doctor has said that it is definitely an infection. I've not been swimming for nearly a fortnight. I don't want to make it any worse. I have invested in some earplugs and a swimming cap so I can use them when I start swimming again. The doctor said that I have to keep the inside of my ear dry. I put cotton wool in when I'm having a shower and washing my hair so it's not getting wet that way.

Ah well, at least it's not as bad as it was, but it's taking it's time isn't it.
The hat and earplugs are a good idea.
I'll be going swimming at ten. I'm not keen on it at all but seeing as I can't walk far it's the only exercise I get, and it's free and private and I have the radio blaring out, and I just do my 50 (short) lengths as quick as I can!! 🙂
I hope your ear continues to improve.

Thanks for your concern CG. It is very kind of you.
I miss my swimming but on the other hand, I want my ear to be right before I start back.
Are you going for a swim at your daughter's? It costs me £25 a month but I can go to the health club I'm a member of any time they're open which is the best part of the day.
Hope that you enjoy your swim. I know I normally feel a lot better when I've had mine.

Had a phone call from the doctor's earlier on today. As the GP I should have seen next week has had to go back home to India due to a family bereavement, they wanted me to go in this morning to see a locum doctor. She was lovely. She said that the discharge and infection were clearing up nicely but I have got a small perforation of the ear drum. My normal GP couldn't see this on Monday due to a build up of the discharge. She also said that the perforation should heal itself in about 7 to 10 days and I should get my hearing back. I have to go back in two weeks. If I was a horse, I think that I would have been shot some years back.
25-09-2015 11:54 AM
Well, what good is a deaf horse? LOL
Glad it's getting better, it sounds as though it's been a really nasty one.
Make sure you wear that cap and plugs in future, (as if you need telling, after what you've been through!) 😉
25-09-2015 11:59 AM
I agree CG. What good is a deaf horse?
I can't go swimming for another two weeks and hopefully, I will be able to hear at least something in my left ear by this time next week. I've never known an ear infection to perforate an eardrum before. I've got to be awkward haven't I?

Morning all. A lovely sunny day here. Hope that everyone else has nice weather.

when I used to go swimming, I got otitis media, which was infection of the middle ear from the water. They gave me some drops and when we put them in my ear, the eardrum perforated!!! I spent the next 7hrs in A & E, waiting for a specialist to turn up, he didn't and they sent me home. I asked for something for the pain and the sister rummaged in her pocket and brought out two fluffy paracetamol!!! I told her to keep them, I had stronger painkillers at home!
I have had to be careful ever since about water, and I can't have my ears syringed because both of them have been perforated.
Sooo, please be careful Chris and don't let that swimming water get down yer lug'oles!!

I'll be exceptionally careful CB. The pain has subsided a lot but I still can't hear properly in that ear. I have to go back to see my own GP next Friday. According to the GP I saw last Friday, she said I should have my hearing back within a week to 10 days. She was having a laugh unless a miracle happens before Monday.
