Ouija boards - Hocus pocus, or playing with fire?

In this week's Chat magazine there is an article featuring allo the woes connected to Ouija Boards.  Everybody knows what a Ouija board is - years ago they were actually selling them in a television advert  as toys aimed as Christmas presents of all things!  The problem is, for every story of woe, there are five people wanting to go out and buy one to see if it actually works!  People just love being scared!  If you don't believe me, look at the number of Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing-type films that have been around.  Even Dennis Wheatly puts a tongue in cheek warning about dark forces in his Black Magic books.  The more people you have participating the better.

"Hello, is anybody there?" is usually the first - and most ridiculous, question ever asked.  Ridiculous because the upturned tumbler or pointer will automatically go to "Yes" - it's not likely to go to "No", is it?  Smiley LOL

"Who are you?" is usually the next question, and then you're away.  Spirits of the other kind usually give the game a highly spirited, family atmosphere.

Asking whether John will fail his exams is asking for trouble - it'll obviously play on his mind, to such a degree, he will fail!

My own crowd are too scaredy-cats to get involved, but like being told not to smoke or not to venture into a disused graveyard after dark because "dark forces abound" makes it all the more  tempting to see if it really does work

I messed about with it once and there was no Bogey Man waiting at the door for me.  My cousin came out with a box of chocolates.

"Black Magic anybody?"  He asked, before the fun began.

The Bible strongly advises us against getting involved in stuff like that and Spiritualism, but I genuinely feel if you're level-headed about the whole thing, and not take it too serious, no harm will come to you.  After all, any "Evil" forces out there are totally powerless against the single force of good.

Over to you - have any of you come unstuck fooling about with a Ouija board.
