Open letter to David Cameron - transparency?? Yeah? Read Acts chapter 5 verses 1 - 11 inc.

Mr. Cameron,

You have made a big thing in the past about transparency and how you hide nothing:

Might I suggest you read your Bible (if you have one) namely Acts, Chapter 5 verses 1 - 11 inc.

"But a certain man named Ananias with Sapphiran his wife sold a possession.  And he kept back part of the proceeds and laid it at the apostles feet.

But Peter said: "Ananaiaas, Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and hold back part of the price of the land for yourself?  While it remained, was it not part of your own?  And after it was sold, was it not in your own control?  Why have you conceived this thing in your heart?  You have not lied to men, but to God!"

Then Ananias, hearingthese words, fell downand breathed his last.  So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.  And the young men arose andwrapped him up, carried him out and buried him.

Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened..  And Peter answered her,

"Tell me whether you sold te land for so much."  She said "Yes, for so much."  Peter then replied:

"How is it that you have both agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord?  Look!  The feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door and they too will carry you out!"  She then immediately fell down at his feet and breathed her last.  And the young men came in, found her dead and carrieed her out and buried her.

Nothing to hide concerning tax avoidance and death dues, David?  Transparency is a useful tool - providing it is FULLY transparent and not just used when it suits one's political advantage!  Take note!

In certain cases methinks opaque transparency when it suits certain people.

Lets just cloud this transparency thing up a bit because we do not want everything to be seen clearly.

They're all a bunch of lying, theiving, two faced ratbags who wouldn't know transparency if it bit 'em on the bum.

They all insist the others should be transparent, but think it doesn't apply to them.

Most shining example was a couple of years back where Cameron personally attacked some MP for doing exactly what he'd been caught doing in his own case!  People who throw stones shouldn't live in glass houses, eh?  How many of "The people's representatives"  - local MP's own a second home and claim the absolute maximum allowance?  They certainly don't have the constituant's interests at heart.  There's just one question and one question only that crosses their mind when it comes to voting on matters in the house: What's in it for me?

The day will surely come when the job of politician will be treated with disdain and suspician because like welfare officers, they don't actually produce anything - they are a "service providor."  I have always maintained that if I had a brother or any other relative for that matter, who was a politician, I'd keep my mouth shut!

The best example of shallow standards was that of Clement Freud who, ten weeks before the local elections were due would send out cards left, right and centre to all those whose names appeared under the BMD list in his local paper.

"Dear George has passed away but here's a sympathy card from our MP  How touching."

He was then faced with the problem of strangers coming up to him in the street thanking him for his sympathy, birthday and celebration cards, people he didn't even know.

He'd worked out a perfect one-size-fits-all answer:  His reply?  "Well, it's the least I could do under the circumstances." and walk away with a smug look on his face.  Shallow, really shallow.  (Roll eyes).

I think most politicians are treated with disdain and suspicion now. They are 'Career Politicians' and not in politics for 'what can I do for you', but 'what can I do for me'. Have any of them ever had a proper job ? I mean a real job ? Working in a factory, a foundry, grafting on a building site, being battered by gales on a Trawler, or sweeping the streets, etc ?

With regards to the latter part of your quote, they do actually produce quite a lot. A lot of hot air !
