Motor insurance for 17 year old girl

Good evening people 🙂

Does anyone have any recommendations for insurers for a 17 year old female driver with full licence? Seem to be going round in ever decreasing crcles on compare sites and still gettng nowhere!  Not overly keen to have a black box because of mileage restrictions (6000 seems norm but she'd do 130 miles a week just to college and back) and she'd need to drive twice a week after 11pm (another thing black box users penalised on seemingly).

Any pointers would be most gratefully received.

I can't help but I do know it makes no difference now whether it's a male or female driver.

There is not supposed to be any difference now between male or female drivers...

however, we are looking at the co-operative insurance... they do have the box, but no restrictions on driving hours...

Try a broker.  Give them the details, sit back and wait.  If they are independant and any good they should meet an averagely cheap ballpark figure whilst tailoting the conditions to your daughter's requirements.

My husband has never had car insurance before , have always insured in my name !!  Anyway when we bought a car for the teenagers both to learn on it was cheaper to insure in his name than my despite all my no claims years 😮 And I mean major cheaper and that was with Lloyds TSB . Only cost a small amount extra when our daughter passed her test to insure her as a lone driver !

So long as your daughter is living at home with you and the car she will be driving is registered and insured in either yours or your hubbys name then putting her on as a named driver is the cheapest way of doing it.

Can cost anything from £35 to £450 depending on the insurance company.

If you insure with someone like Admiral then your daughter can build up her own NCB as well.

You must make sure that the car is registered and the primary driver is either you or hubby otherwise you could be breaking the law.

This way is completely legal and, so long as the principal driver drives the car at least once a week, no problems.
