I know wehave talked about this before but its made me cross today. I was up in the night with a raging sore throat which very quickly has turned into a bad cough bringing up not very nice stuff!!. Try to get a doctors appointment as i do not want the Sinus infection i had last time. Can i get in NO. Other times you ring and your straight in and i need to really see my doctor. I have been sleeping this afternoon as i have felt so rough and phoned up again just now. THEIR CLOSED FOR TRAINING!!!!. Are they a doctors or a training practice?. AArrrghhhhhh. Going to try later or if not in the morning.

Know the feeling Rose, sometimes I have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment at my GP. By the time you get there the infection has either gone or you feel like death. Absolute farce is my surgery. Hope you get better soon.

You'd better move up here then Rose - our receptionist APOLOGISES if she can't fit you in the next day's surgery

Hope that you feel better soon Rose. I know that it's infuriating when that happens. Must admit though that at our doctors, they are pretty good. If we ring at 8.30, you will get an appointment that morning.
Hope that you can see your doctor soon and they you soon feel better.

Thank you Calibra,,,, excuse my rant. Cannot get into doctors and then im told i can only have four periods of sick time off in one year at work . If you have more the boss comes down and has a meeting and you get a WARNING!!. If i start on this one i will not STOP. ITS PATHETIC!!. How dare they. Someone could be really sick?, and no i dont know the ins and outs as i have never had a meeting although my boss said i was close last year. I have never heard the like before. Then if you cannot work if your genuinly ill you then have to fight to get the benefits and sick pay and wotnot. I dont get it!!.

Our doctors is the same as Books. Just phone at 8.30 to get an appointment that day. I have never been unable to get one.

I never thought to ring. I'm a tough old bird. It'll get better. That's what mine does.

I have given up even attempting to get an appointment with the GP - I just go to the walk-in-centre. I have never had to wait longer than 40 minutes, and if it is something too serious for them you get a priority referral to A & E.

ive never tried for an emergency dr appointment here
but we are lucky here having a walk-in centre too

we're only allowed 7 days off sick before you hit a trigger point & are checked on for the rest of the year. One decent bout of real flu (not just an ordinary cold) can take you over that. I'm on regular reviews from last year when I had my leg in plaster and was told not to wieght-bear on it. That'll be on my record until after June this year.
Unfortunately all these reviews & checks are caused by people who regularly phone in sick whether they are or not. Every company has them. It just causes suspicion & hostility, especially when you know that said sick person is having a great of social life whilst you're busy doing your job & attempting to cover for them

Gina our company is the same, it all comes down to percentages, I had tonsilitus once and was off for a week which made my percentage high so I had to have a meeting, where I was asked what I could do to stop this happening again? I was also told to get a flu injection so it wouldn't happen again, a flu injection for tonsilitus I ask you, it is all down to numbers, load of *******
My doctors are also great, phone early and you can get in, if not your own doctor you will see another one.

We can usualy get an appointment same day , even though it sometimes means sitting waiting a while in the surgery .
Theres a sort of walk in centre at our local hospital but you have to ring up first to get in, always had good treatment there when needed 🙂

Our doctor only does appointments on the day which can be quite maddening though really helpful some days. darling ATOS having not got it's head out of where the sun don't shine haven't even processed his form yet(6 months and counting) so the DWP sent him a letter reminding him he needed a new sick note to srrive by Sunday(I had forgotten!!). Letter arrived Weds, so rang docs just before lunch, and got him an appointment that day.
Now daughters - if it's non urgent the standard wait is 3 weeks, urgent and you have to be round there before 12. Grand daughter had a cough and obviously wasn't well, receptionist refused an appointment because the child didn't look ill, she went to drop in centre only to find it is now evenings only, went back to Docs and raised her voice - OK there wasn't much wrong in the end just sniffles and a temp but the babe went all floppy and the childminder(experienced older mum) was worried enough to call daughter home from work!.
Think it comes down to competition and position. My doc is in a high priced housing area with a large health centre and a couple of other docs within 5 minutes walk away. Daughter's is the only Docs on a very large council estate with the next nearest a good 15/20 minutes walk and no parking.

I know now why I don't really like your employers CB and Ed. That is ridiculous on both counts. I never heard of having a flu jab for tonsilitis and to be given a verbal warning for daring to go into hospital with a kidney infection. It beggars belief.

Thats what i have been thinking though,,i know they must have guidelines but what are you supposed to do sign an aggreement to say you wont get Cancer or break a limb!!!!. Its Ludicrous. Im going to look into this. if my company start on this lark with me they will be getting a letter of warning, and it wont be very nice!!!.

I rang doctors on Thursday and again Friday,, and i could get no appointments with ANY DOCTOR AT ALL!!!. They are not usually like this to be fair. I have nearly always managed to get an appointment. I have just signed up for making appointments online and ordering prescriptions as they are moving about fifteen minuites out of the town centre and i will not be able to go up there every couple of weeks to get my repeat prescription.
Could hardly get out of bed yesterday i ached all over and going hot then shivery. Had to have a couple of days off as im not going in and risking making myself worse!. Now as i could not get into the docs to get antibiotics i am starting to get head pains and facial pains which means i have a problem with blocked sinuses again. Ohhhhhh deary me. Can i just get a new body????.
